However this is a thread about the songs we personally hate, so I'll get over it.

I so agree. I remember loving Sugar Daddy when I bought the album in 1977. It's a great Christine song, and I love the beep beep sound when she sing "You can pick me up in a big fancy car, then I can pretend I'm a big movie star."

I really don't like Say You Will, or Red Rover.... I hope that if they really are planning on working on a new album, that they can get their songs to mesh together a little bit better than the last one.

I made the point in a very old Ledge post years ago about "Say You Will": Never had any other official Fleetwood Mac album since the band's founding consisted of tracks recorded over such an enormous stretch of time. Some tracks were recorded in the years leading up to "The Dance," & others were recorded in 2002. So you have a stretch of about six or seven years, which is the main reason behind the disparity of sound & style, as far as I'm concerned.

I agree that the album has a mixture of very disparate styles - even between each of the 2 songwriters. Lindsey's materical moves from the eclecticism of Red Rover to the more accessible Miranda and even Stevie has the fairly dull Smile At You (apologies for fans of this track) and the excellent Thrown Down. Of course we all know how old Smile At You is so that makes the point made in the last post all the more obvious.

That said, I still think it's a ppretty good record and has Stevie's strongest set of Mac songs for a long time. If/when they do a new album I'd have to agree that a more focused approach could be beneficial though.

Now that I've written that I'm unsure if focused is the right word but I'm sure you know what I mean...

It's kind of funny because even the songs written at the same time, don't seem to be of the same period. I'm thinking of EFO. And, unlike his intentions with Oh Diane, I'm not sure that Lindsey meant to be retro in producing EFO. I like it though. Tremendously. Doesn't really sound like the Mac to me though. That probably makes me like it even more.

I also like SYW because it doesn't sound like Stevie. I wouldn't want her to have a catalog of songs that unlayered, but doing it on demand, once in Christine's absence was quite admirable, I feel.

I apologize for the mistake on "I Don't Want To Know".

Just always felt that "Straight Back" would have been better on a solo Stevie album instead of Mirage.

Always thought "No Questions Asked" is just a really weak effort on Stevie's part, and the rest of the band for that matter, not just her.

I'm on the same boat as you in some respects by what other people have listed here as the "songs they love to hate" as you will. I've seen tracks that I love listed here too, so we're all in the same boat!!

I have always disliked "Everywhere"- it gives me a headache and I turn it off everytime I hear it. It's super annoying to me.

I also dislike "Paper Doll", "Empire State" "Welcome to the Room Sara", "Sweet Girl", "My Little Demon" to name a few.

But "Everywhere" tops them all!!!

Welcome to the Room Sara has grown on me a little since I first heard it - but it's still an incoherent mess.

Christine's bland, dull filler on the otherwise splendid Mirage - Wish You Were Here and Only Over You.

Anything where Lindsey plays an extended guitar solo - especially in the seemingly endless live versions.
