Not the lifestyle. The players can still play though.

Yes, I understand what happened. What I don't understand is why he put her name in quotes.

In plain English , and non-diplomatic Scorpio-speak...Karen has acted like a complete bitchto us. For clarity, and emphasis I repeat; a complete bitch. She wouldn't even let Wendy, who has a heart condition and uses a pacemaker, come into the air-coditioned dressing room here in Nashville....She made Wendy stand outside in the heat of the Nashville summer...wouldn't even get her a chair to sit in.....the band and Nicks had to "cool down" you know, before they let anybody in. Yeah right.

All this, and I was IN Fleetwood Mac for gawds sake. I can only imagine how "Karen" treats "regular" people !

Absolutely! She could easily mistake him for a homeless man or a Manson-like character. And if she did know who he was, there would be no respect: " Yeah, Greeny...sit outside the door for now, I'm busy making Stevie's nail appointment."

Was that a Fleetwood concert or a Stevie Nicks concert? If the former, again -- why was Karen calling the shots for the whole band? She reminds me EXACTLY of my former drummer's wife.

I have just discovered this site and love it. great info for musicians and fans. one of the best rock and roll sites out there for info

I am a Bob Welch fan but I looked up some of his threads and I have my doubts if this is really him, it doesn't sound like him. In all his interviews in the 2000's he says he and Fleetwood never speak and will never speak again yet in some of his supposed past threads on here he says he speaks to fleetwood all the time. that is crazy. he alsos praises stevie as a nice and kind person in his earlier interviews but in his threads he is saying she blew him and his sick wife off ????

his ufo comments sounds like him but it would be strange for him to change so much from his comments earlier

here are some questions online presented to Bob, I may be wrong and he has changed but there is no way he likes and "speaks" to Mick now after the rock and roll hall of fame fiasco

Bob Welch, November 8 - 21, 1999

Bob, I have been a fan for years. The new album is great. Have you had any discussions with Mick about releasing any of the rare tracks from 1970-1974 that never made it to a Fleetwood Mac album? (Bill, Bel Air, Maryland, USA)

I'm glad you like "Bop" ! It makes me happy that somebody can enjoy a completely "non-commercial, non-marketing oriented" record !

The way it looks now, I may never talk to Mick again about anything, unless he should happen to take some "human being lessons" and some "reality check classes". I WOULD like to talk to him, because I used to ENJOY talking to him; he's very bright and has a wonderfully skewed sense of humor. Unfortunately, his sense of humor didn't seem to extend to the money they owed me ! (Or maybe it did..now I get it ! It was all a joke!...;-) Seriously, the only thing I would imagine Mick is interested in releasing is (1) Anything with Pete Green on it and, (2) anything with Stevie and Lindsey on it... -- "Bop" Welch

Since the lawsuit in the early 1990s, have you been in contact with the other members of Fleetwood Mac? (Mark Trauernicht, Alexandria, Virginia, USA)

Hi Mark..

BTW thanks for your nice comments on my new CD ! I talk to Stevie once or twice a year, and always go to her show if she's in town... Of course my "beef" was not anything to do with Stevie or Lindsey anyway. I haven't talked to Mick, John, or Chris at all, and frankly don't expect to..

What was Stevie Nicks like? I hear she was very funny, is that true? Are you a fan of her music? Did you two ever date? Have you spoken to her recently? What did you think of Fleetwood Mac after you left and it turned from blues to the way it is now? Thanks. (Melissa, Hemet, California, USA)

Yes, Stevie has a great sense of humor..she always has a "twinkle" in her eye ! We never dated, although I would sometimes hang out at her house, often with my girlfriend along. Stevie seemed to like to have a lot of people, other musicians etc. around.

I'm a big fan of her music.... I think she's one of the most UNIQUE writer/singers ever ! I spoke to her last time she was through Nashville, maybe 6 months ago....

Fleetwood Mac was already making the change from straight blues to the more harmony vocal type sound when I was in the band. In fact, I think I helped them do that.. Thanks for your question !

You sure that's her, Dee? I feel like "Karen Johnston" would be a fairly common name.

While I did not witness it myself (we were in another part of backstage at the moment), I have it from a few very high authorities (who told me immediately after it happened) that there was a confrontation of sorts between Stevie/Karen & Bob backstage after SYW Nashville '03. The band came out to do the meet & greet highly agitated (especially Stevie & Lindsey- I remember Lindsey was animatedly shouting something indecipherable at someone in the corridor)

When I read about how Karen treated him & his wife in '04, I wasn't surprised. I imagine that for him it was the last straw, and is what inspired Bob to vent his frustrations publicly on this board.

If Bob is around and would like to share, please do- although I understand if he doesn't want to.

Yeah, I thought so too - but Karen Williams Johnston, not so much... And, that is how she is credited in the SYW liner notes....

I would love to hear bobs opinion on this again. It really doesn't sound like Stevie Nicks at all. There has to more to this story of the confrontation, these are sort of recent quotes from Bob Welch at the penguin around 2003-

"My question for Bob Welch is:: Have you seen Fleetwood Mac on their recent tour? Do you remember seeing your first Fleetwood Mac show with Stevie and Lindsey? What songs stuck out to you most? What was the most memorable performance of Rhiannon during those early days? Did you ever do any studio work with Stevie after you left Fleetwood Mac? (Emalineblue, New York, NY, USA)

Saw 'em and talked to Mick and Lindsey in Nashville...Told 'em it was the best I'd ever seen them play...And it was...They were great ! When I first saw Stevie years ago , she was very energetic twirling all over the stage , and i knew she'd be a big star.. Formally , Stevie sang on my 3 Hearts solo album...I remember other times jamming around at her house with other musicians etc.

"What was your favourite memory of Stevie Nicks ! Thanks Bob!

Stevie defending me to a hostile LA crowd at the Forum when I opened up for "The New Barbarians" (Keith Richards spin-off group). I'll never forget that! "

]I would love to hear a tape of that LA show, stevie doesn't really strike me as the sort to get into it with a crowd.

He has always praised her, seems sort of strange all this has happened.I know there is more to this story
