I'm still thinking about the cutting the old lady some slacks comment. Who knew anyone wanted to see her in pants so badly?
I remember hearing the Gypsy demo way after, I think, hearing Lindsey speak about it. I think that one shocked me. I was so used to hearing demos from Stevie and there are some I adore and some I find horrendous (like the 97-minute version of what was to become the Nightmare. Aptly named, IMO). But, Gypsy was really, really rough and I never expected it to be. And I do think that one really was a collaboration. I think Stevie definitely had the bones of the song--and--without a doubt--the lyrics and depth--but Lindsey brought out the magic and the Stevieness of it all. And I do like to think that he knew exactly what she was aiming for in that one and how important it was to her, on some level. Or maybe I'm just romanticizing. But, actually, her nostalgia about it seems to indicate that it means a lot to her--even if Lindsey messed with it;-) |
