Of all the RAL tour recordings I have heard, I feel this one is the wildest- and so cool too because Janet and I grew up not far from Jones Beach!
I was actually born and raised in Wantagh until I turned 13 when I moved to a different part of LI. I LOVE Jones Beach shows.

Jon, were you at a RAL JB show? How cool if we both were there.

Jones Beach is probably my favorite place to see Stevie...i saw her there a couple of times over the years, although the tours are foggy at this point...I know I was there for Street Angel, and probably Enchanted...maybe RAL? To me, the ambiance there, just fits Stevie's songs to a 'T'....

I was at that Houston concert too, great fun, managed to get right down the front for the filming. We flew from England to Biloxi only to find out 2 hours before the show that it was cancelled, so we took off to Houston and got tickets there. Great times

I remember seeing her for RAL in Canandaigua NY..it was my first show and I was 12....I remember thinking she was screaming a lot and something was off but at that age I couldn't pinpoint it and I'm sure my parents knew but didn't want to ruin it for me cause they knew how much I adored her... but I just was soo excited and was 12 and here was my idol! It was great.. from my memory of that..I so wished I could have seen l;ike DOTG or Cali Jam...

I felt the same way about the RAL shows! I thought they rocked and didn't notice Stevie having any issues. Of course, I was a lot younger then and was absolutely caught up in the moment. I remember crying, too.

The first time I saw Stevie in concert was on her Rock A Little tour -- in Boston. Having nothing to compare it to other than the Bella Donna concert video, I was very disappointed in her perfomance. I remember thinking "she's not up to par."

She was very messy. The entire pace of the concert was halting and miss-timed. She missed cues, forgot lyrics and babbled incoherently to the audience, so there was a very uncomfortable disconnect with the audience. And, as evidence from some of the bootlegs from this tour, she didn't so much sing the songs, but rather bleeted and butchered them.

She didn't lose me as a fan, because I knew she was better than that, but I left that show not feeling very good.

Isn't that what she's supposed to do?

What am I missing here?

I was about 8 during the RAL tour, but my mom went to the Philly show and bought me my very first concert T-shirt...I remember it had the cover of RAL on it....I wish to hell I saved that!

But I also heard that she was a mess during the show, appeared completely wasted and even fell either off the stage or on the stage...sounds dramatic I know, but those are the rumours I heard. Can anyone else substantiate that? I always wondered if it were true.

Not sure about that show in particular, but, apparently, she nearly overdosed before/after 2-3 shows on the tour.

I grew up out in Suffolk County (Holbrook)... one of my earliest memories is of hearing a commercial promoting the show (her name sounded phonetically interesting to me- and my dad was/is a fan), and the other shows on the Jones Beach schedule that summer. I was 4.

I spent many a summer at Jones Beach. Fun times.

For me, I'd have to say the most memorable show was actually 6/25/08 in Toledo. It started POURING nonstop for about 90 minutes at 7:30 and finally they let us in the venue at 9. The Zoo amphitheater in Toledo was uncovered so the rain was going sideways onto the stage and some of the equipment. my friend and I were front row center and I thought for sure they would cancel the show, but Stevie finally came on at around 10:00 PM. After the opening song, some flunky cam out and gave Stevie a huge umbrella which Stevie used during Dreams. She starts twirling the thing about halfway through the song and I swear I thought I was having visions of Gene Kelly in Singin' In The Rain. A very memorable if waterlogged night!

She did fall at least once during the RAL tour. She discusses it in a radio interview from that era, where she claims her heel got caught towards the edge of the stage. Right. She was saying that now "she's a very careful girl". I do think she fell a second time, perhaps in Australia but I"m not sure.

Several of us just posted some tracks from the Philly Spectrum show. I think she sounds great. But I like listening to her scream like a jungle cat.
