I think that kind of stuff is funny...when you're a big enough fan of somebody it's cute to hear stuff like that, it brings out a more personable vibe.

I think what Stevie is trying to say is that these girls intentionally overexpose themselves for the sake of augmenting their fame....it's all about being on the cover of magazines, TMZ and Perez Hilton for things that have little to do with their respective talents. Someone can be kinda spacey and airheaded in parts of an interview, but that's different then purposely airing a reality show with the sole intention of exploiting yourself. I never had a great opinion of Britney or her music beforehand, but when I saw clips of that dumb show she did then I really couldn't stand her....or her "music."

I adore Stevie, but I have a hard time believing that what she's doing right now isn't an attempt to garner a little more buzz around her own name. She isn't offering these girls real advice, she isn't saying, "I've been there, and I'm here to help now," she's bashing them in a way that seems driven at getting a press response.

I wonder if that Rozenberg PR lady is behind this ... just releasing stuff like this to different media outlets to get some buzz going for Stevie. But really, it could really back fire if this is kept up (good intentions or not) to get Stevie mentioned in the press.

Maybe Stevie needs to set up a rock school for young and talented artists who are serious about their careers... just a thought.

I think every interview she does is intended to draw publicity...but I get the feeling that her comments are more reflective of the mood she is in and not necessarily a PR agenda. Maybe's she a tad upset about the negative reviews she's been getting? I agree, I don't think it is in her best interest to diss other celebs...she just comes across as bitchy and hypocritical....but I do get her point, and I think it is a valid one.

but I was just thinking...is it possible that we are taking this a bit too seriously? It's just an interview. She was specifically asked about Lindsey and she gave her opinion. It also seems that in the interview, the subject of her maintaining a sense of mystery about herself came up and she mentioned Britney as an example of someone who she feels has made a mistake by allowing themselves to become overexposed. It just seems like there is a lot of time spent picking apart every single thing she says, when really, its just an interview...for entertainment value...though she is saying something that a lot of people agree with.

Anyway...sorry if I've annoyed anyone...it wasn't my intention. It just seems that there is a lot of negativity where Stevie is concerned and since I've joined I've been trying to figure out if people love or hate her
First, welcome to the board. This is an unofficial Fleetwood Mac message board made of all sorts of fans. You'll find all sorts of factions and discussions going on here, and usually people back up what they have to say.

There IS a new official Fleetwood Mac site that is starting a message board, and there is the official Mick Fleetwood board (dot COM sites) --"where seldom is heard a discouraging word, and the skies are not cloudy all day." On those sites if you question anything, or if you are deemed "negative" you can be booted off without a lot of ceremony-- those boards are set up for promotion and sales.

This Britney/Lindsey thing could well be something that Stevie responded to once during one interview, off-handed, and is being repeated over and over, and expanded upon as it is passed on from website to website. I don't think anything Stevie says is shaking up the world of Britney or Lindsey. They each have enough negative feedback coming from their own parents, family and ex-lovers.

Seriously, if anyone can post something Stevie Nicks has said or done in public that comes close to what we see here, I'll be the first to admit that she is talking out her ass when she rags on Britney Spears about being overexposed.

My God, that was one of the best laughs I've had in a long time!!

She doesn't appear to have the innate good breeding that Stevie does.

There's a tacky quality in the air, as it were, when she belches.

I love her & hate her, which might seem confusingly contradictory.

But think of it as a Stevie Nicks song.

Hahahahaha...you're right!! That is kind of confusing...but it really made me laugh. So, I'm just going to come out and say it...I love her. I just mentioned what I did before because when you're new to a forum...especially one as big as this...you try to get a feel for the "mood" of it (if that makes any sense) and, in terms of Stevie, I wasn't quite sure

And, I must say, I like it when she gets feisty

I love that! What a great way to put it!

I love Stevie Nicks, but there can be a total cheese-factor that is completely intertwined with her greatness....just like one her songs...

I love my Stevie, and I love this interview... I think she's getting old and crochety too, but I still love her. She speaks the truth about Brittany and Lindsay. I hate them both, and agree with Stevie 110%.

The Old Fart factor in Stevie is something I'm finding pretty amusing. I hope she gives a lot more crotchety interviews! It's a hell of a lot more interesting than hearing Lindsey say, over & over & over & over, that Fleetwood Mac is a group of contradictions, whose range of sensibilities is disparate, creating a kind of energy from that contrast in personalities .... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ....

Somebody shut that guy up. Is he too stupid to know that we're reading ALL the newspaper interviews online?! Does he think that the L.A. Macheads are only reading the L.A. Times article? What a maroon.

They both appear skanky. Or is that just the modern style?
