Default Tusk original 2lp set value?

Hi everyone,

First of all let me say that I do NOT plan to sell the following item, lol..it would be horrible!

I've just bought a vinyl copy of Tusk from ebay. Now I love music and records as much as the next guy but as for putting a £ on them I'm not sure.

Can anyone help me with this? It's the 2 records, in encellent, near mint condition, and the original embossed cover and all inner sleeves (the murals and the other inner sleeves) ae all in excellent condition too.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be worth? I'm only asking because I want to know just how good a bargain I've found, haha! It's amazing, the best thing I've ever bought off ebay.

Also, did Tusk originally come with a lyric sheet because if so this is missing?

The whole thing looks like a first pressing and I've cheked catalogue numbers online etc but nowhere says just what this could be worth. Does anyone have any idea, or at least know of a site that actually has values of some records, not just tips on grading them?

Thanks guys!

Sounds like mine, and no, I don't have a lyric sheet. All I know is it was something like $14 when originally released.

I don't think it has extra value. 10 dollars I presume

The original Tusk album did not include a lyric sheet. Depending on the overall condition of the whole package, a near mint copy might be worth about $10 The album isn't rare and there's nothing unique about it. There are some Mac albums that are worth a bit more, for instance the original pressing of "Mystery To Me' which lists a song called "Good Things (Come To Those Who Wait)" but the song is not on the album. Later pressings corrected this. There is the yellow cover for "Future Games" which is worth a bit more than the green cover. Everything though depends on condition.

How much is that original pressing of Mystery to Me worth? I have that one, along with the first pressing of Bare Trees.

Ok, I dug out my price guide. An original pressing of "Mystery To Me" WITH the song "Good Things Come To Those Who Wait" listed on the back and on the lyric sheet (the song does NOT appear on the album) in near mint condition is worth about $10- $15 The same album but with "For Your Love" listed in it's place is worth about $8-$10. Again this is NEAR MINT which means the album looks almost brand new. Most albums in people's collections are in the Very Good catagory which cuts down the value by a couple bucks.
You mentioned the "Bare Trees" album, that is only worth about $12 for an original 1972 Reprise pressing.
Many people seem to think an original pressing of "Rumours" with the lyric sheet and original Warner Bros. Burbank Street record label is worth much, but in reality because there are SO many copies of "Rumours" out there (the album sold 30million copies!) it's only worth about $5

The Tusk vinyl is still a great toilet read. All those Peter Beard scribblings from his journal during his Fleetwood Mac stint had thousands of us fans in 1979 poring over them with magnifying glasses ... & even calling a bunch of those phone numbers.

Hey Dodfather~
I don't remember having any lyric sheet that came with the TUSK album. Just collages of tiny wierd pictures.

(But I REALLY wish I had the collage pictures now!)

The original price for the TUSK Album was list $15.98 and it caused a huge uproar in 1979 when the average double LP was only $12.98. That extra three dollars put FM on everyone's **** list in the press. There was no lyric sheet which was a great dissapointment but when I purchased the sheet music book about a year later all those issues were solved. Without that book I would have never known Stevie was singing,"like a charmed hour and a haunted song."
I always thought the inserts were designed for left handed people. As a right hander I always had trouble getting those inserts back inside those other inserts. I wish they had made better use of all that space with more band photos. TUSK has always been for me FMac's greatest album.

The Tusk promo poster of Peter Beard's scribblings makes reading them a lot easier. Also the poster is slightly different than the inserts which makes it kind of cool too.
