I think the answer to your question is in every ticket drop thread.

For me, I just bought tickets a few days ago from TicketBastard and got very nice seats in the loge section close to the stage, but not so I would be looking at the band from the side (or the back). Why they would even sell tickets behind the stage for a band that faces the front of the audience is beyond me. I happen to be checking for tickets as they were dropping them in last week for a So. Cal. show. Before that drop-in last Wednesday, I was pulling up tickets in the nose bleed sections off to the side of the stage. I looked last Wednesday for Ticketmaster's version of "best available" and they had floor, row 25. That's too far back for me so I tried pulling up lower level and they brought up section 210 in loge, which was still too off to the side for me. Finally, I called them and ASKED them for the section I wanted and they had two tickets in the section I wanted. Now I see tickets are back to the 400 nose bleed sections for this concert. Ticketmaster now has a toll free number so you can call and ask them for a certain section. Also, I'm guessing that the I Love All Access tickets won't sell out so if you're willing to wait, eventually (and, if you're in the right place at the right time) those unsold tickets will drop in and you might score some choice floor tickets. Your other option is to go to the box office the night of the show. More times than not, they drop in excellent tickets about an hour or so before the show. And, if you buy from the box office, you won't have to pay the idiotic service charges Ticketmaster charges. From what I've been reading here, sounds like there have been several two-fers and discounted tickets this FM tour, and that surprises me. Good luck.

Not sure if you're just saying that in general, but they're not selling rear-stage tickets on this tour. Big acts (such as U2) can sell rear-stage tickets (at a reduced price) because the demand is there.

Generally ticketmaster opens up more seats day of the show or before due to bad credit card orders and such. I have got as close as 4 row day of show.
Another way is wait outside the venue till about 10 minutes prior to show. Brokers...scalpers etc, will be unloading what they have left very cheap. The $150.00 seats for Tampa 4/22 were being had for 40 bucks each at the corner outside of the St. Pete Times Forum wednesday. I had an extra and couldn't even give it away...although I let someone have the seat.

I got my 3rd row seats via ticketmaster. You just have to wait it out. It's nervracking, but it often works!

I got my Row 5, floor tickets, Section 2, right in the middle (in front of Stevie just about) on April Fool's Day, two weeks before the show in Philly. I really hadn't planned on going, but I kept checking anyway. So when these popped up, I just had to buy them & go & I haven't regretted it at all. Good show. My advice, just keep checking.

After literally checking every day since December, hundreds of times (if not more, which--frankly--wouldn't surprise me), I pulled front row at MSG about two weeks before the performance.
1 ticket. As far as I know, it was not the start of a huge open season on good seats, either because I looked for more seats and it pretty much went right back to the crappy seat I had been pulling up for quite a few weeks before that moment. It was just a fluke and me being at that screen at the absolute right moment.
So, patience, patience, and more patience.
No such thing as a sure thing unless you buy from a broker. And that costs.
