I can't comment on the show in question. But I know sometimes on those setlists they are not always correct. Example: I was at the SA show here in Michigan/Pine Knob/now as DTE in 1994. Stevie DID sing The Chain....cause I was at that show & it is not listed on the set lists as sang. Someone was also disagreeing with me. I figured Stevie added it as a 'bonus' song cause there was a thunderstorm that night & the power went totally out at the Venue....when it came back on we only got a shortened version of Blue Denim (no re-do either : ( ...I was sad cause I like that song)...thats why I figured she did it as an extra song.....It was great too!! Since she didn't perform it at all shows during the SA tour so it was special. I don't have any recording of it either. I won't ever forget it plus it was my first solo Stevie concert...those you don't ever forget!!

She did perform The Chain on that tour and there is a boot of it. I used to have it, but no longer do.

It sounded great IMO.

well that's cool. i may stand corrected. i know some of the dates on those tour pages are incorrect, so it stands to reason the setlists may be slightly incorrect too.

when it comes to FM history, i usually defer to david's vast knowledge, but he's probably wrong on occasion too

Are you talking about the 7/23/86 show? That was in Philly in the Spectrum. The bootleg setlist for that show is as follows:

Outside The Rain
Dreams
Talk To Me
I Need To Know
No Spoken Word
Beauty & Beast
Leather & Lace
I Can’t Wait
Stand Back
Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around
How Still My Love
Edge Of 17
Rhiannon

Gypsy was played on this tour, but not at this stop. Unless you have the boot of this show that has a Gypsy on it. Gypsy was played past more than once, but had been axed by this stop. Boots aren't always complete shows...maybe she did HAEWAFY here and it's missing cause it's the last track. But Gypsy would be randomly missing, because it would of been in the middle of the set. When it was played, it was played after I Can't Wait.

True, that happens. But we get a better idea of sets when we gather numerous tapes in large volumes. We have dozens of nights of that tour on tape, & based on those we can accurately chart changing set lists. Looking at numerous shows back to back helps us see patterns, repetitions.

We have GYPSY on the opening night (Houston April 11) recording, & I think it's on recordings from later that week elsewhere in Texas (Austin April 12 or Dallas April 15). The video of Iowa City (April 19) & the circulating recording of the first night in Baton Rouge (April 25) have no GYPSY. One week later, we have May 2 (Hartford), May 3 (Providence), May 11 (Tampa), May 16 (Philly--your show), May 30 (Indianapolis), & May 31 (Alpine Valley). They all have the same set, & none of them includes GYPSY. If you remember GYPSY at the Spectrum in mid-May, it would have had to be a one-up.

Anyone else from this community claiming they were at this show?
That would help us out.

The Nicks Fix has omitted complete shows from their lists. They didn't even bother to correct it after I'd pointed out the inaccuracies.

My show was in May, 1986. Not July. Did she play Philly twice on the RAL Tour? If not then the show you have is mis-dated or they simply put the wrong city on the label. I went to 5 RAL shows. In April and May I saw her in Hartford, Worcestor, Providence and Philly. On July 18th I saw her in LA at The Forum. It could be possible but it's highly doubtful that she was back on the east coast one week later.

I saw her on the SA Tour in Phoenix and The Chain was NOT performed that evening. There was a lightning storm that night that did delay the start of the concert. I thought all this time that The Chain was only performed at The House Of Blues shows. Until Starshine said she performed it in Michigan, I would have never known that.
While all of us do consider David an expert on FM and Stevie, I too consider myself somewhat of an expert as well. I have a great memory of the past.

Smile RAL Philly Show

Wow! My first post here EVER! I've been lurking for quite sometime, so I guess now is as good a time as any!

I just wanted to confirm that two Philly dates were played on the RAL tour. I was there for both of them (May 6th and the one in July). They were not only my first ever Stevie shows but my first concerts ever!

Shelly

oh no... It's the SYW sweater! I hate that sweater!

Thank god that thing is gone.

This whole thread makes me want Stevie and Tom to get married and make beautiful music for the rest of time.....

Thanks for the info. I always wondered whether the July date actually took place, given that there's no circulating recording or ticket stub photo or even newspaper review.
