Add Kid Rock to the list, too.

(remember when Sheryl Crow & Kid Rock used to date? They went to the TISL record release dinner together, which was pretty wild)

The 'Live In Boston' dvd/cd package was far, far below a platinum seller.
Other than 'Time' it was Mac's worst selling product in eons. The SoundScan figures for 'Live In Boston' were a total of about 32,000 copies sold, and that was about a year after the release- the exact figures are somewhere here on The Ledge, it had been a question posed in Billboard magazine's Chart Beat column, and the 32,000 copies sold was...eye-opening.

Right, and because it only takes 50,000 discs for a DVD to sell in order to reach platinum status, 32K * 2 = 64K. The sampler CD that came with that was, i.m.o., such a waste of time...there were no songs on there from SYW, and the rest were forgettable. It was a complete afterthought.

*Edit: There was one SYW song on there, Come, but...yawn.

Yawn? That was the best SYW song done on the tour. (not counting RTTG, but that was only done for one night). How could you call that guitar solo boring? My friends who are into rap thought his guitar solo was killer.

The guitar solo was good, but that song just never did it for me...it just seemed like Lindsey's attempt to crossover into "hard rock" i.m.o.

Well, out of all the songs done in Boston (I was there both nights), that was the best one, IMO.

Well, with 50,000 copies needed to be sold for a 'gold' DVD, the 32,000 copies of 'Live In Boston' with its 2 dvds would be 64,000 copies, so that's gold- Platinum would need to be 100,000 copies sold.
Also, a comparison to put things in perspective, regarding the commercial success of 'Live In Boston' vs. 'Trouble In Shangri La' which occupy the first 2 pages of this thread:
Rough, but fair estimates- For 32,000 copies of LIB, sold at an average price of $30 - would equal gross sales of $960,000. Less than one million dollars.
For the 'Trouble In Shangri La' cd- which at last count had sold about 650,000 copies- and to be very conservative, an average price of $10 per cd- would equal $6.5 million dollars in gross sales.
So, to the new poster here... (welcome, anyway
"Trouble In Shangri La" was by FAR the more successful of the two products, especially factoring in the cost of film for the 'Live In Boston' project, plus all the clearances and packaging, who knows if it made a cent of profit.
I would defer to MacMan or Luke's corrections should I be wrong, they are awesome with the stats in the 'Rumours' threads, and here, but for someone to blindly state that 'Live In Boston' was a platinum 'smash' or words to that effect, and TISL a failure in comparison, is so, so inaccurate it's not funny.
Would you rather have $6.5 million in sales or less than a million? TISL winds hands-down.

I'm going to roll the dice and say it will come in at #27

Hope I'm wrong, but I think it will be her lowest selling album.
I think that it will eventually sell less than 100,000 copies (domestic).
Then the CD will drop like a stone on the charts, Top 100 maybe 3 weeks.
This isn't a comment on the albums quality, but other factors like,
the record industry as a whole, the economy and her age.

I think I saw one 60+ year old in the Billboard Top 40. When next week's
chart comes out maybe Stevie will be that one.

I wonder if Fleetwood Mac would sell the DVD/CD at the concerts?
That would help sales, but I can see Lindsey, Mick and John going
up to Stevie and asking what their percentage is???

This is an excellent cd and dvd its definetly if you loved the crystal visions tour thats what this is except she added the one, crash into me and circle dance in the set.

Come on we all know that the CD (and also the DVD) is pretty much obsolete...

It is a sad reality that many people just don't pay for music these days. Sure the true fans will go out and buy the copy of the DVD or the CD or perhaps pay for them on iTunes. However the casual listener, the person with not much money, the person who doesn't care that much, will go straight to rapidshare or a torrent and download a copy. Failing that there are several Russian and East European download sites selling albums for around US$1.

I don't think its that these artists are declining in popularity as much as many people are no longer prepared to pay the money for the album.

Oh and just a question (because I haven't been keeping up with Stevie stuff), why do a lot of sites list this CD as being released on Jan 13th?

All have a huge gay fan contingent. It's interesting.

I have a question you all:

What exactly is on the CD- I'm hearing that it isn't just audio from the DVD, or is it????

They need to put Blue Again, Gift of Screws and her Soundstage all out there on the merchandise table. I actually think Lindsey has a better chance of selling his product right after people have seen him in an FM concert. That would be the time when they want to experiment more with him, so he might get a few new solo fans out of it.

They do give away Blue Again and GOS in the gift bag for the ILAA package already. I wonder if Stevie's CD/DVD now goes in the bag.
