they've all said they didn't get together until early last year re a tour etc

I’m the worker bee. I don’t really get to enjoy the honey comb very much.

She's in the same place as the 1,000 Stevies and not working (after the autograph session) this time!
What kills me is I work literally around the corner from the Highline, but I won't be able to check out cause I'm working! Maybe I'll meander by on a break.

I think if you move the camma from after "2007" and put it after "out", then it makes sense. Didn't she film this thing in Oct 2007?

ie:
Well, had I known that Fleetwood Mac was going out, on October 5, in 2007 I wouldn’t have filmed “Sara.”

i've always been a Stevie fan mostly
but i love Lindsey's mind set
to me, it 's like he doesn't give a **** if a record makes 10million sales or whatever
he's doing what he wants to be doing for the sake of doing it
not coz someone is making him or he's doing it for any other reason than his home
Mama is always too much about being a pleaser and holding back on doing her own thing/releasing xyz

i wish some of him would rub off on her
like someone said in this thread
Stevie might see his last 2 CDs and being his creative outlet
and look how energized he is
Stevie needs her groove back

that would totally make sense yes
i dont recall when it was filmed
but she's going around confusing 2003 with 2007 so who knows what she's talking about lol

thats one of the best interviews in years- great questions! a new album, unplugged, etc. would be great, but yeah, she is kinda all over the place so who knows.

and strand, i hope your right about last year being the last of the same old-same old, but I'll believe it when i see it ;-)

I think we will never really see a day when she does not perform at least a few of her hits. But, look at the Soundstage DVD, she included Crash, Circle Dance, and Rock and Roll. I get that they have been part of her set for two years, but that was a reach for her. Plus, on the last tour, she did that Seeger song and she and Henley did SYWBARRS. Then, Red River Valley on CI. So, she adds things here and there will keeping the core stuff.

All of this to me suggests that she wants to do something new. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that she is game for it, esp. now that she is contractually free to do whatever she wants and she likely is worth enough millions of dollars (likely well over 50) not to care about the money it could make.

Also and randomly, I think the Soundstage DVD was to have more branching out, but the friends she called on never showed.

Finally, whatever she does do next, she needs to sing the shiitte out of it (see Red River Valley, the current live Storms, and Call on Me for Magic) instead of using this BS monotone voice that is her safety zone.

There's no way in heck that Soundstage is going to go gold. The biggest thing working against her is the fact that a version of this has been broadcast and DVR'd/taped/youtubed/torrented, etc. ad nauseum since it was broadcast last July. Secondly, many, many fans will assume that this is simply the audio track pulled from the DVD, so they will just buy the DVD only. Thirdly, there are only a couple of bonafide "hits" on the CD; the rest are album cuts or minor radio hits. Fourthly, since she is on tour with FM (and will likely not do a solo tour behind it), she is unable to do extensive promotion. Fifthly... admittedly there is nothing on this set that is particularly earth-shattering. Sure, some of the arrangements have been tweaked, and the addition of strings to "Landslide" is pretty, but overall it's a very conservative set- nothing like Eric Clapton's re-worked "Layla" which was an improbable smash hit for him back in the day. I do hope I'm wrong, but I just feel like so many casual and diehard fans will sit this one out.
I definitely see your point, but i'm sure this will sell more than Crystal Visions because Soundstage offers something new to the casual fan (new recordings and unfamiliar songs like HSML and BATB). I think most "die-hards" were ready to sit this one out, but once they heard and saw the finished project, they became rejuvinated about it. Also, the FM tour itself actually adds to the promotion because the media has been covering this tour since the whole Sheryl Crow fall-out. And, Stevie's promotion for this project is more consistant; she's got the B&N signing, Fallon, Today Show, and Lifeboat event all in the same week; when she was promoting CV, she went on the Today Show, and then a whole month went by until she went on Ellen, so the promo appearances were fairly sparse and inconsistant. I guess we'll just have to wait for the reception it gets tomorrow and thru the rest of this week.

YAY!! Somebody finally got through to her. Let's hope it's deliverable. I'm getting tired of buying greatest hits packages.

So Lindsey's telling her to Go Your Own Way again....but in a good way this time?

In the MFBB threads I've been campaigning for Stevie to do some down-n-dirty, earthy blues songs. She so has the voice for it. (I'm remembering the clip of her singing at Mick's wedding.)

But the shawls and the platform boots have to go!

Here! Here! IDK if it was the label or her manager or freaking Karen. But who ever it was needs to go. Let mama record. Do what she wants, find that creative space and create! Many of her peers released records and didn't care if they sold.

Joni freaking Mitchell came out of retirement and recorded an album
Dylan, Petty, Eagles, Heart, Lindsey (Twice), even Christine has released an album since Stevie released TISL.

This is the best Stevie interview I've read in years. I think she sounds really REAL and while she does refer to herself as a rock and roll star, it doesn't feel as self important in this article.

I get this and I actually believe it. If she means it the way I am interpreting what she's saying, I totally get it. I think that she is finally ready to shed some of her persona or at least change it now, at 60 years old. I think it's hard for people (women in particular) to "give up" what they have been for so many years and now she is ready to give us another side of her. I'm totally excited about that if it's true.

And now I am even more determined than ever to get my ass to NYC for NOTS one year. She'll show up someday...

It was 1986 and Red Rocks is in Morrison, a good 45 minutes south of Boulder. But I'm sure the long nets of white cloud her memory from this time.

Please let this be real and not another flight of fancy.
