Default Stevie's Marriage

Who has any information on Stevie's short term marriage to Kim Anderson?
How long were they married? I read somewhere that they parted on bad terms. Are they friends again? Is she involved in his son's life?
Please share- anything you may know : )

She is soooo tightlipped about it...I love how it never comes up in any interviews, as if she were never married. I mean, what did people in the band think about this??? haha....anyway, I did read recently that that son is in college now and she is paying his way through it. She clearly has helped him through the years, but i dont know what her relationship is like with Kim!

They married in January and I think they split by April. Wanna buy a matchbook from her wedding?

Matthew and his wife were at Stevie's show in Alpharetta, GA (Atlanta area) last June when I saw her.

According to the Q&A on here by Tom Moncrieff, Kim Anderson worked with Tom to try and get Buckingham Nicks re-released during The Dance tour. Apparently, Kim talked to Stevie about it , so I would think they are on speaking terms. She did mention him in her Storytellers. But, considering the situation, I'm sure it's a bit of an embarrassment.

To say she is "tight-lipped" I think is an understatement. How many interviews has she done where she says that she never got married because he career was too important?

Hahaha, wow.
Anyone ever inquire as to how much this person wants for it?

I think it's safe to say that this is because Stevie did not consider that a real marriage. It was a reaction to profound grief and dedication to Matthew on both of their parts.

She dedicated Landslide to "Matthew and Shawna, my angel-children". (Or something similar...I remember thinking she didn't say they were her "godchildren")...I was on the 3rd row and could clearly see them standing behind Cory Buckingham.

Right...but while she may not consider it a real marriage, it was...and I think it's somewhat disingenuous of her to pretend that it never happened.

I'm not bashing her...but the whole thing must have had such a huge effect on her for her to pretend that it never even happened.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with the disingenuous comment. I think, to Stevie, she was never married to Kim. I can understand her feeling that it wasn't a "real marriage"...

But, on her Storytellers, she says: "my husband, Kim" ... so she hasn't always pretended it didn't happen.

I was married once real briefly too and honestly, it almost is as if it never happened. When I tell people I usually add, "it's not worth mentioning" because we lived together so briefly - just a few months. With Stevie being on the road, I'm sure if there weren't pictures she probably could believe it really never happened... and who would want to remember marrying your best friend's husband when you were coked out of your brain anyway?

Stevie has spoken about it, I have an article from a British women's magazine from 1990 where she talks about the marriage. This is the part about Robin's death and the marriage:

It started when she was told that her childhood girlfriend Robin was dying of leukaemia. Unusually for someone with the disease, Robin had still managed to become pregnant by her husband Kim and, knowing how slight her chances of conceiving had been, she refused all medical treatment during her confinement. Instead she reconciled herself to the fact that she would have to sacrifice any hope of life in order to give birth.
Having spent many painful hours at Robin’s bedside, this resolve led Stevie to make one of the biggest mistakes of her life.
Three days after giving birth to son Matthew, a tiny, premature baby weighing just 1 ½ lb, Robin died. Distraught, Stevie made a vow to honour the memory of her best friend by marrying Kim and bringing up their son as her son.
“I went crazy – absolutely crazy when Robin died. The only thing I could think of to do was try to take the load off Kim by marrying him and helping raise their son.
“I think in her heart Robin knew I would go after Kim,” Stevie continues. “I had known her for 20 years and him for five, and I felt this baby belonged to me almost as much as it did to them.”
Friends and family found themselves unable to share Stevie and Kim’s logic... “A lot of people refused to come to my wedding – they thought I’d lost my mind, which I obviously had at the time.”
In the early days of the marriage, their shared emotions and the demands of providing round-the-clock care for Matthew united the couple. But as time went on, Stevie became more and more convinced or the mistake she’d made. At times she even doubted that Kim could distinguish between herself and Robin.
“Having been friends from the ages of 14 to 35 we talked the same and had similar mannerisms – so much so that, in a dim light, it was hard to tell us apart.”
The relationship quickly deteriorated. Kim began to keep Stevie away from Matthew, and Stevie realised she’d married someone she didn’t even know.
Uncertain of what to do next she walked into the nursery one day to check on Matthew. “I had got used to going in and finding the cradle rocking without anyone being there and I always knew that it was Robin,” she says/ “ But on this occasion it wasn’t rocking, nor the next day either, and that was when I realised she had finally left.
“Somehow, I knew she was telling me, ‘You’d better get out of this right now. Kim will take good care of Matthew, but this is not what God meant for you, Stevie.’”
Stevie hasn’t seen either Kim or Matthew since their divorce but prays for the opportunity to see Matthew once more when he is a bit older. “I hope he’ll come to me and I’ll be able to hand him things that were his mother’s and say, ‘This was her – look how wonderful she was.’”

Stevie has actually spoken about a few times, see above article. But she has done other interviews talking about it. I believe it was brought up in her "Behind The Music" thing. She has said that the members of Fleetwood Mac were NOT at all happy with her decision. Everyone told her it was a huge mistake. She has gone on to say that Kim began to call her Robin and wouldn't let her leave the house. She was supposed to go for a dress fitting for a video shoot for her "Wild Heart" album ("Stand Back"???) and Kim refused to let her leave the house. He said he didn't want her to go on tour either for fear he would lose her like he did Robin. Stevie said she needed to go and just left for her "Wild Heart" tour.
She has never said so, but I truly believe that "The Nightmare" is all about her marriage. Just about every single line in that song fits into what she's said about the marriage.

I understand that she *has* spoken about it previously. But it's almost as though she is selective in when she will talk about it (or even merely mention that she has, in fact, been married).

In all honesty, I think that she probably finds it easier to just say that she was never married, rather than go in to all of the details surrounding her temporary insanity/grieving period subsequent nuptuals.
