Will you go so far as to admit that they were A LOT better than they were night 1 of Pittsburgh? I think that I notice it more in the harmonies... Stevie sounded a little pitchy, in areas. They did do a false start on one song. But will you come with me on my point that they seem to be improving over the course of the tour? Still kicked my ass, though~

Yes, of course as the tour rolls on they will probably get tighter.
With all the great recordings we're getting i'm sure we will be able to discern that by tours end. (Thank you so much to all those who have made them)

That is the funniest thing, lot's of people write me to say that I am the record label, or a member of the crew, or the newest one Stevie's assistant. I guess I can add Lindsey to that list...

yea, Rush is a VERY acquired taste. They just appeal to me and unlike you I LOVE how they can play the way they do. I appreciate how well they can translate a "What you hear on the record" is pretty much what they do Live."

I appreciate how Fleetwood Mac changes up the arraignments for their live performances.

The Dance arraignment wise is much better than the recorded versions to me.

Rush are one of the bands that are on my "See live before they die" list. I'm a massive fan and own all their concert DVDs (and CDs, of course), but if you have one Rush concert DVD then you don't need any of the others unless you want a few different songs because every version of every song is more less identical.

I've listened to most of the Pittsburgh show and there are a few musical fluffs but I don't hear anything too major. I thought they did a great job. Care to point some out to me? I've not been listen as a "musician" but I'll go back to it with my technical ears on next time.

And as boring as Mick's solo is at this point it wasn't bad as Peart's from the Snakes and Arrows DVD. That solo made me sad because it was actually the part of the DVD I was most looking forward to and it ended up being technical but unlistenable.

I think I have to agree with you. Though I didn't want to spend the $$ for this show so I can't comment even on what I've saw or heard on YouTube....as good as it maybe to 'see' it on there or hear it. It isn't the same as being there. I'm happy for those that had a great time. But if you didn't there's nothing wrong with posting your opinion otherwise...at least not to me. Its better to be honest than have these rose colored glass view of everything Stevie or Mac. They aren't perfect and they do make mistakes just like the rest of us do.
I do agree I think the Don tour was different & special & I for one am happy I got to 'see' them together for there short 10 date tour. Its a shame that Don couldn't fulfill his end of the agreement (but I guess if Fmac asked Stevie to come don't you think she'd have left the tour as well??)....but it is what it is....no big deal. I think it was good because the songs were different. Of course for me I wish she'd had her Tusk or BD/WH voice but those are the eras I like ......I liked Don on her songs as well. It was different for both of them and different is always a good thing. I've seen her on these last 2 CV tours 07/08 and well yes her voice was ok for me but everything was just too rehersed & expected. Yes she sang 'covers' but I personally would've perferred songs from her own catalog. I don't care how she'd have sang them at least she could've tried too. I think 'try' is the operative word here. She doesn't seem to want to try much from her own catalog. Don't even get me started about the stealing stuff either (music/net).....IMO anyway......

I actually agree with you that Neils solo last tour wasn't his usual brilliance.
But, like some others we know "he's getting older too"

But to say Micks was better? Come on. Not even on the same planet. Not even possible to compare to two really. Mick is good at what he does and Neil will be remembered as one of the best drummers in history.

Well, as for examples of "mistakes" i can't really say. I was never talking about them making mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes and I would never criticize a band for making them.

They just haven't sounded very tight yet. (I'm not talking about John or Mick...mostly Mama and Papa.)

Mick is excellent at what he does. Not really a Rush fan. As has been mentioned elsewhere here, I agree that Rush is an acquired taste. Nothing against them, just have never gotten into the music. I have seen video of Neal Pert and think he is exceptional at the drums.

Mick is great what he does because he comes from a particular style. He's a blues drummer at heart. That is where his base/foundation is. His influences come from great blues drummers and African drum rhythms. I honestly don't know where Pert's influences come from so I can't compare the two. (Again, nothing negative about Pert!!) Just saying that Mick comes from a particular drumming style and base which underscores everything he does.

I really wish he would stretch himself more during his solo, perhaps add some different percussion instruments (NOT the vest!!!!!!) and really show off a little more than what I've seen on the videos that have been posted so far. The man is a maniac when he gets going and if this is the "Unleashed" tour, then Mick should "unleash" himself and really "go off" in his solo.

Finally, Mick will be remembered as a great drummer, in my opinion. As good as some others? Maybe, maybe not, but remembered he definitely will be.

No, she doesn't want to try anymore and it's become painfully obvious. The reason why she was so good with Don in '05 was because she knew that she was sharing the stage with another rock legend and probably wanted to impress him and his fans that attended those shows. I'm sure it was fun for her as well, as she got to do some different things and sing some different songs that she never attempts to do when she's by herself. I saw a similar enthusiasm from her when she toured with Tom in '06. Why? Well, because she was doing different songs (Insider, Don't Come Around Here No More, American Girl) and it was probably exciting for her.

However, the verdict is in - even Stevie's most vocal supporters on this board who have now seen her performances on the Unleashed Tour are all saying pretty much the same thing - that her spark for performing is no longer there.

I said this a few weeks ago and I'll say it again. She either needs to start being an active, creative artist again and start performing new/different material or she needs to bow out and retire.

Have you seen the recent Chris Isaak TV show with Stevie as guest? Have you seen the Soundstage show she will be selling soon? Even a casual or brief look at these shows proves that Stevie's energy & commitment to the moment fall way off when she's performing with Mac. I think that's what most people in the thread are commenting on -- the widely varying levels of energy. It's kind of confusing. Now age itself can cause energy levels to rise & fall, as we all learn. But is it then just physiological coincidence that she grows subdued & bland every time she plays with the Mac, & conversely smiles & laughs & clowns in any other situation?

I would say the fact she's even up there at all is something special.

It is, I suppose, if someone loves her so much that her mere presence is a satisfying aesthetic experience.

I worry about the rest of them when they are engaging in dangerous activities. Did I want Lindsey beating Mick's drum kit with his bare hand? No. Did I want Cory confessing that she almost closed the wardrobe case on Mick's hand? No. Did I worry about John in 30 year old footage when I saw him getting a hand massage after the concert? Yes.
