Great pictures, Paula! I miss your song by song reviews, but seeing as I was too lazy to post a word about the Boston show, I guess I'll let you slide

P-You got some awesome shots! Several of them look wonderfully candid, for lack of a better word... not your average concert shot.

The boots... hurt me to look at them. Those babies are high in the arch despite the platform. No amount of orthotics are gonna help that. Nice close up!

Gawd Stevie... you really ROCK!!

Ok, I just started reading this thread and got to the close up pics of Stevie's boots and my first reaction was s**t, Stevie can rock out and kick ass in those awesome boots, my God, those are high. You go girl!!!

OMFG THE BOOTS ARE FREAKING HIGH. Stop bitchin' about the SB twirls, I don't think I'd be able to crawl in those. Thus goes to show that Stevie truly is a survivor... of shoes.

Wow, some good stuff. Hey I noticed that on SS, Stevie is doing her little I am rocking out to this song squat thing a little bit. I know there are people that don't like that, but always thought it was cool, because it just means she is totally into the song. For me, I think it is cool when Stevie totally gets into the passion of a song and arms are flailing around and it looks like she is totally rockin' out.

The lighting was cool, but some of my pics ended up being too dark. I used no flash & sports/action mode for most of them. Did a few on Auto mode, but they were blurry of course.

I know. I should really get a life & not share my thoughts & photos, right?

I really like that one too, there's something about it...

And you really don't get a sense of how friggin huge those platforms are until you see them up close like that...
That was during Landslide, when they paused & giggled.

I was worried about the sounds being that close, but it turned out better than I expected.

So, do I understand correctly, you would say you were pleasantly surprised and glad you went?

(I am glad you went!) Thanks for remembering us and sharing.

BTW...How full was the venue?

Any new merchandise?
Yes, Betsy, you read correctly.

Venue was about 2/3 full maybe? It was still only about 1/2 full @ 8pm, so I was worried, but it seemed to fill in. I think some people still assume everyone has an opening band so they don't rush it.

New merch I noted was a travel coffee mug, a tall plastic one with a brown leather sleeve - don't recall hearing about that one before. Theresa bought it. it was $25 Canadian.

They did, I'm sure of it. I'll have to watch the vid now. I can't recall exaclty where, but I swear it was before one of the "listen to the wind blow" lines. I thought "whoa, what was that" and saw LB look back at Mick like "whoa, what was that?" It was specifically those 6 notes right before that line.

EDIT: I just watched it & can't hear it either. crap. Did I completely hallucinate it? Maybe it was MOnday Morning? Dammit, now it's going to drive me nuts. It wasn't huge & they got right back into it, I don't think casual fans noticed but some of us up front did & I know LB looked disturbed/annoyed.

All of your pictures are fabulous! I have a question though, when I'm at my concert, should I not use flash? If not, what setting should I use. I have floor seats and my camera is just an HP Photosmart camera (if that helps you in answering the question)?

Don't use flash - you'll end up lighting up the back of everyon'es head in front of you. Take your pics when the stage is well lit. In my experience, unless you're a really good photographer (which I am NOT) use the camera pre-settings as much as possible. You don't need an awesome/expensive camera - I have a little Kodak Easyshare.

I use the "sport" or "action" feature a lot - you have to hold really still when you're taking the pics, and your pics might be a bit darker but they shouold be pretty good with the stage lights. I try to take pics when the band members are more still - right before they're about to sing, during one of LB's solos, etc. This will cut down on the blurring a bit.

I also take many many pics - you'll probably end up ditching several. I took about 200 total, dumped about half, ended up with about 20 or 30 really good pics (good enough for me, anyway.) How far back are you? Do you have a zoom on your camera?

I posted in another thread how I take my pics...... I do use flash though and the auto mode when I can. My camera has a big zoom though.... I was able to get some good shots at a Metallica show recently without flash though by using the P mode on my camera--but not all cameras have this mode.... in the P mode I keep the ISO down to 200 to cut on grain and I had the exposure compensation all the way to the left (+/-)........ but that you might have to adjust depending on the lighting..... and I agree with Paula--I'm shaky to a fault so concentrate on keeping as still as possible and try to get shots when they're not moving a lot...... here is a Metallica pic I was able to get without flash in P mode... Also I notice when in the P mode that sometimes it is a little delayed--so keep as still as possible until you actually see the pic you snapped on your camera.... unfortunately I am much more jazzed up and shaky at Stevie/Mac shows than other shows!! LOL!! Oh and don't use the digital zoom--it will just cut down on the megapixels and make your photo more grainy........ of course the closer you are to the stage the better!! This is just my experience with my camera--all cameras are different so please don't shoot the messenger if they don't turn out
