Default ThrownDown.net help!

Hi, all!
I'm new here, but am a big big fan of Fleetwood Mac!

I saw somewhere on one of the threads mention of ThrownDown.net where you get torrents.
I registered over there today and am SO lost on everything -- I went through their forums and couldn't find the answer to my question.

So for all of you tech-savvy people out there, help a helpess girl out!

Question:
I go to the performance I want, click the "Download" button, and nothing happens. No windows pop up. Nothing downloads. Nothing. On the bottom of my Internet Explorer, I see the green progress bar get about 1/3 of the way and then it stops like it's hung or something.
Any ideas?
THANKS so much in advance!

You need a special programm, a torrent client, to open those files from throwndown.net. Azeurus and uTorrent are my favorites. Download the torrent files from throwndown.net and open them with the client. Hope that helps.

Maggie,

Yes, I have downloaded uTorrent.
However, when I'm on ThrownDown.net and on a specific torrent that I would like to download, and I click on the "Download" button, nothing happens.
On the FAQ section over on ThrownDown.net, it says you must do this before opening it with uTorrent:
"You click on download button and save the *torrent file rom the torrent you want to download on the desktop."

^ I can't do that

Hmmm, that's tricky. Which browser do you use? Maybe try right-clicking and "Save as" and open the file manually?

I use Internet Explorer for my browser.

I tried right-clicking on "Download" and clicking "Save Target As", but it still does the same thing... nothing. Acts like it's hung.

Anyways, I'll try to figure it out. Thanks for your help, Maggie!

Well you have to download the link first, it acts like a place holder so when you open up the torrent program, you then go to where you saved the file and then load that into the torrent program and then it just works. The file that you initially save just has information in it so the torrent program can find the files that are spread all over the internet. (I hope I explained that right)

Believe me, if it were not for my tech savvy hubby I would have never figured it out. Vuze bought out Azeurus but they still use that blue frog logo as the official logo of the program.

Thanks for your help, but I throw my hands up.
I give up.

I've come to the conclusion that there's probably something wrong and it won't let me download due to my computer (whether it's a firewall or a cookie blocker or whatever).

Except the audio that someone posted on here from the Detroit show (they were on mediafire), I was able to download just fine.

Who knows... computers are frustrating!

Hi FM lex,
check to see if there is an icon on your desktop for the bit torrent program that you chose to install. It should have an .exe extension - install that first than go back to throwndown and try to download the show you want - I just went through this myself the other day and I have been waiting for a day and a half for a show to download (almost done now)

I hope this helps

Troddew-
I have uTorrent installed and it's window open whenever I am on throwndown.

However, when I go to whichever show I want to download, it just sits there. Like it gets hung or something. It's very frustrating because there's lots of good stuff on there.

Do you have to have a "Share Ratio" to be able to download from the site? I don't have a "Share Ratio" yet because I just registered today.

I can't hel pmuch with tech stuff, but if there is a show you're wanting, just let me know! I can get you audio (if you don't mind .mp3s!), but I don't know of a good way to share DVDs.

yup that's what I downloaded - I just joined to so I don't have a share ratio yet either - hhhmm - bery interrezting - maybe it just takes a long time like mine did - I started yesterday at 3 PM and it just finished today at 8 PM - try closing uTorrent or restarting your computer - that seemed to get my download to go a little faster - wished I could help more

Cool Sounds like a firewall issue...

to me. If you have windows go to the control panel and find the firewall icon and see if you are able to allow any incoming connections.

Just to let everybody know, I found my problem!!

I probably should have mentioned that the network I was continued to was through my university.
I am home now & connected to my home network and I was talking to my dad and he said that the reason I couldn't download at school was because they block torrents and things.

Thanks for all your help though! I'm currently downloading some stuff
