Default Mick: I Still Love Her (Blog Talk Radio)

http://blog.blogtalkradio.com/2009/0...-stevie-nicks/

Mick Fleetwood: I Still Love Stevie Nicks

Of all the bands to come out of the Golden Age of Rock, none carried as much emotional baggage into the studio as Fleetwood Mac.

While recording their 1977 album Rumors – which featured such hit singles as Go Your Own Way and You Make Loving Fun – John and Christie McVie were separ- ating, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were breaking up, and Mick Fleetwood was divorcing his wife.

During that tumultuous period, Mick and Stevie also hooked up, only to go their own ways after the pairing proved too painful.

Twenty-eight years later, however – with the band embarking on its first tour in five years – Mick tells BlogTalkRadio that his relationship with Stevie is as solid as ever.

“Do you still love her,” World Talk Live! host Brett Cohen asks him.

“Oh, absolutely. She’s one of my dearest, dearest friends. And it’s a great part of my life and her life,” the drummer, who has a new, non- Fleetwood Mac album out titled Blue Again, replies.

We’ve shared a lot of things in terms of Fleet- wood Mac and we continue to have the partnership that has spanned a huge amount of time,” he adds.

Not only is the one-time couple still tight, but Stevie’s a member of the family.

“She’s a mighty good godmother, I might add, to my two beautiful twin daughters.”

To hear Mick’s full interview, in which he discusses the current state of the music industry – and why he thinks American Idol is good for it – click here.

I'd rather he not use a word as final as "epitaph."

As for Stevie being a godmother, I don't want to invade a child's privacy and I know that she has to go to school and you shouldn't do or say anything publicly to make the other kids perceive her as "different," because peers can be cruel. Still, I'd sure like to know how Mick's daughter is doing since that drowning incident and if she is still in need of therapy and assistance. The damage sounded rather serious at the time.

I would like to know how she is doing. Was it Ruby or Tessa?
I'm glad that Stevie has such a wonderful friend in Mick. This interview is very sweet.

I think his kind words about Idol can be added to the clues that there will be an Mac week on Idol.

Imagine paying $1000 to hear "Don't Dream It's Over" instead of "Go Your Own Way"

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

You mean Mick shouldn't choose Stevie as godmother? That's a bit unfair, since she is very special in his life, and he is surrounded by show business people, it's logical to think in them. They just have to be discret. Besides, I'm sure most of children doesn't know who is Mick Fleetwood or Stevie Nicks.

I'm 42 and a work partner who is 27 doesn't know much about Stevie. He even asked me recently.. Was Olivia Newton John famous before Grease??. If he doesn't know.. imagine the children. My niece who is 16 knows nothing about Stevie Nicks, actually she doesn't know anything about anyone older than Paris Hilton

:
No I don't mean Mick shouldn't choose Stevie as the godmother. He and Lynn could choose the pope for all I care. I just meant him mentioning his children by saying how good Stevie was to them made me think of the swimming accident and how I would really like to know how she is doing. I really want to know, but truly understand why it's something he's not talking about. I think it would be helpful if he discussed the brain damage to other people, but I also wouldn't want to make my own child any kind of poster girl on the subject. So, I can understand why we haven't heard any more.
