i think you forgot the 3rd (and most obvious) possibility, which is that warners don't believe enough in this album, and are not about to shower this project with their money.

Very true... so VH1 lifted his performance of "The Rising," from the MTV Video Music Awards, and played that in lieu of a concept video.
But barring any live performances of "Peacekeeper" on MTV or VH1, the network will have nothing to play... and an extremely important part of the album's promotional muscle will be lost.

The media blitz for 'The Dance,' was really spearheaded by the massive airplay the concert initially received on MTV, and then later on VH1. Not to mention the frequent airings of "Silver Springs," "The Chain," and "Landslide."

And gosh, look at all the people on these boards, who became fans after SEEING the band on MTV or VH1.

The optimist in me is hoping that they have *some* plan to get exposure on VH1... perhaps they filmed one of their rehearsal concerts? Or maybe they'll allow VH1 to air the first few songs from opening night of the tour? Or maybe the "making of" that they filmed will be broadcast?

Still, I'm confounded (and disappointed) by the decision to not film a concept video.

You should all remember that the economics of the music business are that the ARTIST PAYS FOR THE FREAKING VIDEOS.
So why should the five of them shell out a lot of money for what may or may not help sales. Anyone who is going to buy the alum knows that FM exists. That doesn't mean that they would buy the album, but FM doesn't exactly need the name rec, especially when every third song on the classsic rock stations is from Ruymours ( okok, it only seems that way).

Would you people get over it. It's not like she said it wasn't going to happen. It will. When she was asked the question, they didn't have plans.

Johnny, come on, you can get angrier than that. It is time for you to join the dark side.

Well, we can again sum this up with The Dance. As I said in my other thread, radio didn't sell 5 million copies of The Dance...television did. I'm not saying the band will sell 5 million copies of the album if they release a video, but what could it hurt? A basic video does not cost that much money. Plus, let's just throw sales aside...don't they want their NEW music exposed to different people. Are they really that reliant on the bigger fans? I guess it may be true to say there's no guarantee that a video will help sales, but it's too much of a risk to challenge. This is just too bad...I really hope they change their mind.

I am also very disappointed (pissed) ~ but it is a comfort to notice how this has affected all of you - it's cool to see that I'm not the only one who just *lives* for the videos, images, etc. (I am filled with excitement for the new music as well; don't get me wrong).

I am really hoping that Steve's remark (up above) is right, and that maybe Stevie was asked this question WEEKS ago, and since then, they have decided to GET UP and do it.

It seems absolutely odd that they wouldn't; they know that the fans love this stuff, and they HAVE TO have the desire to bring in new ones as well... if they are concerned about "looking old" or something, then they *must not* have faith in their music - otherwise, they would get a director and work up some concepts for "Peacekeeper: the Video"....

Time will tell, I guess --- maybe this is a big joke to get us going, in order to win some of the 'naysayers' back when they release the video...?! Who knows what all of the insiders involved in this are thinking...

maybe they plan on using some footage from this documentary thing, it might be an option....
there MUST be some kind of video for a radio release... i don't know wether not releasing a video is bold, vain, or simply an idiotic decision. one way or the other, it's a destructive decision.
don't forget that that the "world tour" is still speculative, which means that other than the US (and maybe canada) there will be NO promotion other than radio.
i'm not even talking about all sorts of music channels, there are hundreds of televised entertainment magazines out there, if they have no promo footage- it means that this item is a dead one.
