Would be someone be nice enough to send me (e-mail: [email protected]) a copy of Rod Stewart's "Stand Back"?
I lost my copy a long time ago and a friend doesn't believe me that it exists. |

Rod's Version of Stand Back:
http://rapidshare.com/files/206223205/08_Stand_Back.mp3 To quote the album booklet "I've always admired the primitive rhythmical ugency of this early eighties track, by Stevie Nicks, her of the floating curtains and tablecloth, and well heeled boot. I just wondered what it would sound like with a male voice, namely mine. I took some criticism for attempting this one, but there you are, one has to take the odd Nijinsky now and again, actually this could be a theme song for me, "Stand back Rod's going to buy a drink". |

Why Rod Why?!?
I literally laughed out loud when I listened to this... I just have a strange vision of Rod spinning in his lace and chiffon... And dancing on the infamous treadmill... ![]() Actually it is like creep city... |

Haha, I hadn't heard this before.
It's kinda fantastic in its oddness. The intro is bizarre - sounds like it belongs to a really dramatic movie scene somewhere. And that is definitely a great description of Mama - floating curtains and tablecloth. Our Lady of the Treadmill & Wind Machine.

It is from Rod's 1993 album "Lead Vocalist" where he does some covers of other people's songs (hence the much-hated version of Ruby Tuesday). I don't think it was ever released in the USA.
