Hey guys- I have not posted in a long time. NOT A TROLL.

I checked out the Youtube videos that have been posted. I do think Stevie sounded quite rough. Kinda how she has tended to sound after 2-3 shows in a row without any rest. So I am surprised she sounds so rough so early.

But that being said- what really bothered me is how SAD she looked in all the pictures I have seen- beginning of show, during the show, end of show- I don't know what is up but I hope she is ok.

I actually think Stevie could use some subtle vocal enhancements when she sings live. My fave Tori Amos certainly uses TONS of reverb, echos, ect to enhance her voice.

I thought the Live In Chicago performance was AMAZING (I don't get people who are dogging that show- WHAT???) I thought it was Stevie at her absolute best. During Stand Back, Stevie sounded absolutely PRISTINE and I really felt they had some vocal enhancement going on- kinda like an autotune thing. I cannot wait for that CD for the best live version of Stand Back since 1983-in my opinion- and the awesome cover of Crash.

Bottom line- Stevie needs some good old fashioned live singing augmentation- all artists use it. She won't be lipsynching- it will just add some effect.

And Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most underrated guitarists in the history of rock and roll. Anyone who dogs him is insane.

Uh, Paula - plenty of peeps here know who Ashley is and why shouldn't they know her? I've met you once before, and I knew who you were before I actually met you Ash said that she did almost miss the beginning of the song because she was talking to her, and who the hell are we to tell the Queen when she can talk and when she can't? She can damn well talk whenever she wants to!!!! And, just because she was at the side of the stage doesn't mean that Stevie had time to talk to her either before or at the end of the show, Ash didn't get to talk to her this summer when she saw Stevie perform.

Fine Darla, I may have lost my metaphorical tenner, but I still win the point. You just pulled those 2 names from somebody elses post like a mindless monkey.

So you're complaining about Stevie bashing, but it's acceptable to you to dismiss the other members as "nothing" w/o her?

Another thing I notice is that those who deplore the negative opinions from other ledgies so often voice negative opinions about those ledgies in the process.

Isn't it better to harshly criticize Fleetwood Mac rather than ledgies?

Not to everybody. You might believe so, but others don't "need to understand" any such thing if that's not how they see Stevie.

Going by the videos I've watched, Stevie does seem sort of bored, but I haven't seen any playful videos, so I really can't judge that.

That said, her Landslide from the first show...choked me up. Go Insane made me smile like the Cheshire cat too, and that's probably due to memories of the GOS tour.

My goodness, looking back on this, I see that we're all being rather foolish. I'm sorry for what I said to others, I willl try much harder to respect your opinions. And it does not matter how many posts you've got, it matters if you'be proven yourself a fan. I don't take anything back that I said to Scoop though, I totally agree with mylittledmon, this thread was just started to kick up dust. Perhaps we should forget about this all? I would really hate to see this place go down hill because of a thread started by a troll.

I guess when you have no interest or passion for what you are doing anymore, you don't attempt to hit the high notes, you don't put the same amount of energy and intensity into your vocals, you don't twirl quite as fast as you used to, etc etc.

You mentioned Stevie's performances from Live in Boston as reasons why she shouldn't retire, but that was in 2003 - it's now 2009. The Stevie Nicks of 2009 is not the same Stevie Nicks of 2003, just like the Stevie Nicks of 2003 was not the same Stevie Nicks of 1997 and so on and so on. With each tour that passes, it seems there's less and less that remains of the old Stevie. I personally loved those SYW tour performances from her. I wouldn't have seen over a dozen shows if I hadn't. Beautiful Child was amazing as was Stand Back (probably her most energetic in years), and more times than not, she was in the moment at every single one of those shows.

Her Soundstage performance was pretty good as well, but that was recorded in 2007 - which was 2 years ago. The Stevie at that show is not the same Stevie I saw the other night.

The reviews that have come in thus far on this tour have, to an extent, already confirmed what I’ve mentioned in my original post. I drove over 300 miles, spent $175 for my ticket (plus $14 for parking), spent money on gas, tolls, and my hotel room, only to watch a show in which hardly any effort was put into by Stevie. As a long time fan, I feel a little cheated and I don't think it's right. Look, go to the shows and decide for yourself. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade here. But having been a fan for so many years and having seen so many tours and shows, I can honestly say that for myself, she is no longer the Stevie Nicks that I used to love seeing in concert. She has become a parody of herself and I would rather not see her go on this way and have this version of Stevie Nicks be the last memory I have of her (or anyone else has of her for that matter). I no longer find her to be entertaining on stage. She hasn't recorded a single new track (outside of the Deep Dish remix of Dreams) in 7 years. No new music, 3 consecutive greatest hits tours in a row (2005, 2007, & 2008), passionless live vocals, unprofessional stage behavior, little to no movement around the stage, an obvious lack of respect for her fans (we all want to steal her music, so what's the point of making a new record?), constant promises in the media of working on new projects (yet nothing ever materializes), and an overall lack of intensity and desire to maintain a once fascinating career.

So, it's for these reasons that I feel she should consider retirement after this tour. Unless she decides she wants to change and start to be a creative influence in the music world again, it's pointless for her to continue. She can no longer keep milking the same cow, because it has now run dry. To continue to tour around (whether with Fleetwood Mac or solo) while doing the same songs, the same exact way, without any passion whatsoever is in my opinion taking terrible advantage of her fans - the very same people who made her the star that she is and has given her the life she now enjoys. IMO, it's a smack in the face and I choose not to support her from this point forward.

Anyway, I feel as if I'm starting to repeat myself here. I'm really not trying to discourage anyone from seeing this tour or anything like that. If you have tickets to any of the upcoming shows, go and decide for yourself. If nothing else, at least the guys in the band will put on a good show. You can count on that. And who knows, maybe Stevie will try to put out a good performance here and there. You might get lucky, you never know.
I have to say you make some great points regarding Stevie here. I do feel she is bored on stage....& as a longtime fan myself (some 20 +yrs) I don't feel there's anything wrong with saying the obvious. Do I like it no.....I wish it was more than just an act anymore. I wish it was true honest performing ......Personally, I think Stevie has done a diserve to herself & her fans.....I really think after SYW came out she should've taken a yr or 2 off of touring totally. I think all of this constant touring has helped contribute to her demise in performing some. I won't say totally & I am not making excuses.....just thinking out loud so to speak. I think its sad what she said about us fans 'stealing' her songs last yr and ever since she stated that its bothered me as a longtime fan. To me it was sort of a slap in the face really. Like thanks for getting me here but no thanks.....The setlist bothers me as well. Really, for me both CV tours I saw in 07/08 where not inspiring performances....Now I'm sure others would say she was wonderful...etc....but too me it was all too staged & with all of the 'expected' moves from Stevie & shawls etc. No excitement. No trying to truly change things up if not for the fans than for herself.
For me she won't be the Stevie that I love or the voice that I loved but yes unfortunately we all get older & do change and theres really nothing anyone of us can do about that....its something we must accept even about ourselves. I know I don't have the energy that I did at say 25 now at 40 yrs old....so yes I give Stevie credit for still doing it at 60 ....I probably wouldn't be myself really. Heck I have feet issues so I can't even guess to what health issues's Stevie has or the rest of them. But with saying all of that....I can see your point of retirement......I mean heck she did give her life to music all of these yrs maybe its time to slowly step away from the lime light and just let Stevie be Stevie & the rest of them fade away.....I know alot here don't like to 'think' like that but it will happen someday & maybe sooner than later. They are all older. Yes they can record something? if they so chose too but not tour. The day will come when its over......for Mac and Stevie solo. Maybe it is?? who knows I guess only 'they' do.....I agree I didn't want to see Stevie end like this but....well who knows.....she isn't the same performer that she was in the 70's/80's/90's/ etc......like you listed the dates.....I'm with you I won't be seeing anymore tours from either of them.....the 'live' show doesn't thrill me at all anymore. Besides the high ticket prices. Stevie could do much with the Net but she appears to want to ignore it all. Which is sad and a bad business move as well. Same with the boring old NicksFix web site......it so needs a total overhaul. Heck the typeset etc haven't changed since I've been online & that's since '01. Sad for an artist (same with Fmac too).....for both artists with vast followings to have such web sites. Heck fan sites through the yrs are more up to date than theres. I apperciate your opinion as well as others. I think we all should be able to speak our minds here for thats why this board is here.....if not where else???

all that aside, i don't think anyone is taking issue with change. change is not inherently bad. it's an inevitability. experience, circumstance, and our own temperaments conspire to shape us through the years. the changes many of us see in stevie reveal her to be disengaged, inert, and contemptuous towards music consumers, and those are the qualities that leave a bitter taste in our mouths.

and, ironically, in many ways it is her inflexibility that rankles. she isn't making new music. she isn't offering new perspectives on the old stuff. she isn't collaborating with interesting people, branching out into other forms of art and media, or connecting with her fans in innovative ways. i mean she abandoned the nicks fix for a gazillion years and then the best we got was "the kennedy's" (sic)?

despite her convincing arguments on the destiny rules doc against the double album concept, she does not understand this brave new music world. while other older artists, like annie lennox, are embracing the (not so) new technology of itunes and youtube, stevie has deemed computers evil and has said that making a new album isn't worth it because people will just steal the music anyway.

lindsey is arguably the most shameless member of the band when it comes to admitting that the "unleashed" tour is nothing but a cash grab, but even he has released 2 albums in the last 2-3 years, well aware that he could never dream of approaching rumours-era sales. this leads me to believe that latter-day stevie is little more than a mercenary whose muse dried up decades ago.

and re: giving up on the people in your life who have changed:

that depends heavily on the circumstances. but i have cut people out of my life who turned into utterly unrecognizable incarnations of themselves. i don't see anything wrong with limiting or eliminating your exposure to someone whose presence in your life results in a net loss. i think that's what many of us have experienced with stevie.
I really like your post also.....you also made some great points......

Yes.. but one huge difference.... Stevie "CAN" sell out a venue... LINDSEY..... "Oh Well" LOL[/QUOTE]

Stevie sells out her venues because she has become an OLDIES act. Her fans know she is gunna play the same crap every time and charge ridiculous prices for tickets. Are you totally fine with paying hundreds of dollars to see her play the same set year after year? I got fed up with it. Team Buckingham. Two incredible solo albums in two years. Ill take that.

He is a lounge act now too.
I guess I just want to tell you that you are WRONG. Even though I know you are a troll, I feel the need to say that Lindsey has put out two solo albums in the last few years and toured behind both. How is he a lounge act?
