Let's face it: NONE of them NEED money. Let's not split hairs and say Lindsey this and Stevie that... Just be totally honest: NONE of them want for ANYTHING! Lindsey has had 2 solo albums and tours and stevie has only done some tours and crystal visions. They are totally equal, if Lindsey hasn't made more! Everyone is, "Oh, Lindsey... You poor thing..." Let's all get real. They are working. They want some money. That's why I go to work. How about you? Come on.

He isn't a saint, but he's not the only reason that this band are who or what they are.

Luckily, you have a great pic in your signature, please elaborate in a pm

Stevie can always make money touring, but it doesn't compare to the big pay day that they can make as Fleetwood Mac. Even divided four ways, it's more money in 45 dates than Stevie could probably make doing a couple of years worth of solo dates.

Lindsey can't make money touring like Stevie can, but I would hope that he hasn't spent all the many millions he made from the SYW tour and the profitable sell of his home just 5 years ago, so that he needs the money today. I mean, I know he's got 3 kids and a wife, but do they really go through $15 - $25 million that fast? From what Mick and Stevie say, Lindsey is a fairly frugal guy . . . although I've never heard anyone say that about Kristen. Still . . .

There's no doubt that he wants the money and I sincerely hope he puts it to good use and funds another solo tour in the future.

I hope he's not at the financial point where he "needs" it though.

Michele

If you've seen them live on this tour, please tell us about the look on FM's faces!

I'm going to have to jump on the bandwagon and say that I'm glad Lindsey said it. I wish he wasn't doing FM at all if that's the main motivation behind it, since it makes him a hypocrite for all the times he slagged the Eagles, but at the very least he is being honest.
Any knock on the Eagles by Lindsey was always BS anyway. As if Fleetwood Mac during his entire tenure has been some revolutionary avant-garde touring machine. Sorry, but ever since the Tusk Tour ended, his tours with the band haven't exactly been earth shattering as far as pushing envelopes, especially with new material. The Mirage Tour had a lowly four song representation from the album it supported and The Dance Tour had another set of four new songs. I will give him some credit for pushing the his own songs for the Say You Will tour but the fact that many of Stevie's "new" songs were eliminated almost immediately after their initial outing kind of ruins it.

Musicians are always out there to make money and they, nor their fans, should really expect much else. It's almost as if, because they call themselves "artists," we expect more from them than we would from someone in another profession. Lindsey or anyone else mocking the Eagles (or Fleetwood Mac, or the Stones, or any other "classic" band) for touring to make money is laughable. People work because they have to make money to live. So they make more money than us, who cares. It was kind of refreshing to read that he said that as opposed to some song and dance about creative juices, cycles and restatements of previous works and so on.

Why do you think that Lindsey can't make money is true? I think the past couple of tours Lindsey has gained a lot of ground in building up his fan base and has purposefully reached out to fans. I think it's possible the band, if they invested in the stock market, etc, could have some financial problems, but, it seems unlikely, as they seem totally clueless as to what is happening with most of America in terms on the current economical status.

I think the exact opposite is true, actually. Lindsey toured SO often from Fall 2006-Fall 2008 that he over-saturated his product. As a result, what ended up being his best tour (this past fall) was also his least attended. Promoters (as well as G4-lovin' Lindsey) lost money.

I enjoy Lindsey's solo stuff immensely..but it is largely not marketable. He will never make much money off it. I don't think it's due to oversaturation per se, although that is a great point. I think he has a definite target audience - and that audience will never be part of the commercial masses because it is primarily made up of those with a discerning ear and a taste for true art.

TOTALLY AGREE... I am sure that Stevie is with us on this one. Could you imagine what it's like to be her? Having to hear him go on and on and on... (Just playing... I thought we would spread the heat on to Lindsey the way we do Stevie.)
