When Lindsey sings "It was a great day," is he being sarcastic or ironic?

Oooh, you've come to like TPT? I don't. But I do like Treason much more than I initially did. I don't skip any track on the album, but if I did, it would be TPT. At the very least, I would re-sequence it and put it at the end. I think it kind of brings the album to a halt, up front like that.

I don't think it is sarcasm actually. Her heart was broken. He's not ridiculing that. He's not standing back sneering at that pain. He's more a participant in the loss. Gentle cynicism maybe, not sarcasm.

No. No. Absolutly not. No. Of course not. No.

Isn't sarcasm just a form of irony?

Yes. It's a bitter, rather derisive form. Michele

Time Precious Time took a lot of time to grow on me.

But I've always loved Great Day...

When I first saw that title on the track list, I was disgusted. I said this song better be about the world ending, because I want to listen to a song that's really about a "great day" as much as I want to hear one about furry bunnies.

So, I was hoping the title would be ironic and Lindsey did not disappoint me.

That is definitely going on my list of favorite quotes ever.

(Man, I have a bunch of off topic posts on this thread. What's up with that?)
