If she is so inspired politically to write am extensive poem, I hope that inspires her write, record and release new songs. Given the inspiration Obama has provided her, maybe she'll put out an album something of the sorts like Bruce Springsteen's 'Born in the USA."

Obama is refered to as an agent of change. Stevie is long due to be a songwriter of change, because, in her words, "It's all the same. All the same. All the same!"

I just wish, with all the liberties she takes with the English language, that she would understand the use of an apostrophe by now. Instead of the title, "The Kennedys," she writes the posessive "The Kennedy's...which means The Kennedy's something or other. I'm a little embarassed for her.
Well, that could be a typo from whoever transcribed. Let's not assume Stevie screwed up the punctuation. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on that one.

it's great to hear that she didn't fall for McCain.
but that writing is just awful.

hmmm...given Obama inspired the poem, and her strong belief in the dream, wonder why she waited until now to post?
"I am so mystical ... I saw it coming"

Do you think maybe Obama lurks on Nicksfix chat?

You do realise you have just criticised her for the misplacement of an apostrophe, something that could easily be a typo, and you yourself have just misspelled "possessive" and "embarrassed"?

Oh the irony.

But anyway, Born In The USA was about Springsteen's disillusionment with the American dream so unless Stevie becomes disappointed with Obama it's unlikely she'll be inspired to write a similar album given her endorsement of him in that message.

I agree completely. I really doubt Stevie posted the message herself on the Nicks Fix.

So then why was she so resistant to saying who she wanted to win before? Someone asked her and she was like "Wouldn't you like to know!"

So it took her until the day that President Obama is swept into power in a tidal wave of international adoration and good will to admit she was an Obama supporter?!Where were you during the campaign Ms Nicks? When Whackjob Palin was spewing her retarded venom?

I think it's really cool to see that she DOES still care about us, even if her website is really ****ty. And that it's true that she DOES write, no matter how bad/good it is. Keep the creative juices flowing!

I think it was a little choppy, but there were parts of it that were really great. I like how she used a little bit of the "Straight Back" lyrics too.

And as for the apostrophe thing ~ it's not really a big deal. And I agree, it isn't like she went on her computer and typed that up. :/

Cheers everyone!

The final 3 stanzas are awesome and very musical. I can hear these words rolling off her tongue to a dnace beat ala Stand Back or Strait Back.

I guess that she just didn't want to say Obama and then have him lose. Or maybe she just converted to him from being a McCain supporter. (Or maybe it was the guess I just made but with an embarrassing candidate instead)

So, I thought about him all the rest of the way to work and I was crying, but not in a sad way, more like a daydreaming way. I was thinking that the family has already lost Eunice, essentially, because the last strokes have disabled her so much. So, I was thinking that Jean Kennedy would be the last one and what a sad, lonely feeling that must be, even though she has children of her own. The loss of Ted, basically her last sibling, will be devastating.

Anyway, thinking of that all the way to work, then getting to the office and learning that Ted Kennedy collapsed and NOW reading this poem. It all feels surreal.

I had a similar experience today, like you did about Ted Kennedy. This afternoon when I was watching the coverage on t.v. when they announced that Ted Kennedy was there, I was axiously waiting to see him and to see how good he was getting around. It was so great to see him there... he has always looked and reminded me of one of my Grandfathers (my mom's dad)... and then when they said he collasped, I got really concerned... And it was like 3 hours later after all of that happened, then I read Stevie's poem about 5pm... and thought of todays events... and thought Wow... yes, it's kind of surreal... I agree.

She probably waited because she didn't want to sway or upset her fans who did not agree with her politically. I'm glad she waited, because as someone who voted for McCain, i would have been a bit peeved that she didn't wait until after the election to express her opinion of Obama. I respect her alot for doing it the way she did.
