Question DC concert

So did anybody see it? They broadcast it on our Channel 36 which is usually just a local station for weather & ads. I switched back & forth between this & the Eagles/Cardinals game (& the Eagles disappointed me yet again). From what I saw, I thought the concert was pretty good. I wonder if it'll come out on DVD and/or CD & maybe with the proceeds helping out say people that are struggling financially, no jobs, no homes etc.. , you know instead of the banks that are holding the money for themselves.

Fox News reported that Garth Brooks "fired up the crowd more than any of the others."

Is that true? More than U2? More than Springsteen? More than Stevie Wonder?!

I don't believe it.

That's not exactly surprising - I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if the next line from them was "Springsteen and Bono join forces at concert in effort to spread communist ideals and ban God from the US"

I'm watching now and Garth just came out - He's doing "American Pie" which is a song that everyone knows all the words to - now he's doing "Shout" - come on - again it's an audience participation song - so yeah - the crowd is energized......

Why in the world they have Usher and Shakira singing "Higher Ground" in front of Stevie Wonder is something I do not begin to understand......

Geez - I don't see how anybody beats U2!!!!!!!

I saw the concert...three times. U2 stole the show even with a shortened song. I got up at three this morning to hear the world premiere of Get On Your Boots from Dublin. If you haven't heard it, please listen to it streaming on U2.com

Did anyone else think that Bruce sounded horrible?

Mellencamp's Little Pink Houses was pretty damn good. Also Pete Seeger/Springsteen/Seeger's grandson doing the full version of This Land Is Your Land was great. U2's Pride...In The Name Of Love was excellent. I didn't know Bono could still sing it in its original key. Same for Mellencamp. We're all getting older. Sigh.

There were audio problems throughout the entire show. Bruce looked like he was freezing. Also, I thought Jon Bon Jovi did a great job with Bettye.

Weirdness. Her voice is so wrong for that song.

Thumbs up

Well, I am biased where U2 is concerned, so when they were on, I stopped watching the football game completely during that time. I thought they were good. And BTW, I just was over @ u2.com & I love their new song, Get On Your Boots.

So as far a Garth getting the crowd going, yeah, he did, but I don't know if he exactly stole the show.

I did see Bruce & I mentioned to my husband when he came on that boy he looked cold & sounded kind of rough.

But really everyone did a good job; it was a good concert.
