What is your all time favorite Fleetwood Mac song? Do you know the meaning behind it or an anecdote that pertains to it? If you can't pick just one....don't. Feel free to talk about as many as you'd like.
Here are mine: Sisters of the Moon: The meaning, as I know it, is about Stevie trying to cope with the negative side of the life of a rockstar. The demands, exhaustion, people, image and lifestyle in general. " Does anyone even know her name....." Second Hand News: The rocky times leading up to the end of the relationship between Lindsey & Stevie. When things were bad at the end, they still were able to connect at the sexual level. "Won't you lay me down in the tall grass, and let me do my stuff"....... |

Fun!
Gold Dust Woman: It's about Stevie just beginning to navigate fame, rock stardom, and drugs... and the negativity she sees could possibly come from all of those seemingly good things at the time. This was the song that originally hooked me into fandom in 1993. Beautiful Child: This one is a bit more complex. I believe it to be about losing your first big love, your first heavy relationship. When you went into it you were an innocent child... and coming out of it, you won't ever be that again. You will forever view the world through different eyes, and a lot of innocence and sweetness is gone. Kinda heartbreaking... but for those of us here who have had that first big love and lost them, we know exactly what Stevie is talking about. |

You mean the author meaning, or "my" meaning? I'd like to know your meanings
Gypsy, not sure about the actual meaning (besides it was related to her friend who died of leukemia), but my meaning is about coming back to a beautiful moment or place. Say goodbye live version has more feeling, to me I listen this song and think in those relationships where I tried to get along again but then the other side said goodbye (or viceversa) Don't have one favorite, but those are the songs I have a special meaning |

I love so many~ but if I had to pick it would probably be The Dance version of Silver Springs.
It just has so much power, and soul in it.

I have a real attachment to "Crystal." I love the lyrics and the fact that Lindsey is singing a Stevie song. It's probably my favorite. So many choices though! "Blue Letter" is another I love. "Second Hand News" ... "Monday Morning" ... "Over My Head" is a really longtime fave ... "Dreams" was a favorite from childhood ... I've had a couple in-person GYOW experiences that put it up there.

For me I have a couple
The Chain: I was in a very complex relationship with somone and when it ended I discovered they were lying and the whole time they were away teaching in a foreign country there was something going on with someone else so the lyrics to that song are very appropriate to what happened. Silver Springs: Same relationship but this ong is exactly how I was feeling at the end of it all. Beautiful Child: Same relationship and this song captures the way I was feeling before and after. I don't have a single favorite song. I would have 5 that are at the top of my list.
But lyrically, I'm drawn to Angel and it has two different messages for me: The one is about a love that is technically over, but not emotionally, so I like the "I still look up" part. But the other words are more universal in meaningt, the charmed hour and haunted song and all the lost moments in life that you can't recapture, that hurt when you lived through them and hurt again when recalled. It seems like if you wish for something hard enough, concentrate and hope, that you can grasp it, or that you can reverse something that's irrevocable, but you never can. The track a ghost elusiveness really gets to me. Michele |

My favorite is GO YOUR OWN WAY. To me, the "meaning" of the best Fleetwood Mac music is the sound structure -- the energy of each bar, its crispness, its concision, its clarity, its inventiveness. Every segment of sound is like Pop Rocks on the tongue.

![]() It says to me: "You can go your own way. You can call it another lonely day." It's wicked good! But seriously, though, I don't read it as a sort of imperative command from one lover to another. I'm hearing a soliloquy here. I'm hearing the guy talking to himself, with bitterness, with sarcasm. "Go ahead & try walking away from this cool relationship & these crappy problems -- you'll just wind up right back in it again."

Go Your Own Way, and Silver Springs...
Both meanings are fairly obvious I think. Classic songs, great lyrics. It's all about bitterness, anger, resentment; and WRITING those feelings down...in those words they used? Awesome.
