I agree with this post. I get the feeling he may have said, during rehearsals for the tour, something like, "Do you plan to do the whole Stevie Nicks enchilada with your stage clothes this time?"

Spoken in just the right tone of voice (enthusiasm-less), it would have pushed her buttons.

I think some wardrobe things are related to Lindsey. For instance, the absence of the top hat. It reappeared for her solo. I don't think it will be there for FM. I don't think he said anything about it though. Deciding not to do something out of tact or consideration is one thing. Implying that someone told you not to wear nice clothes because they were afraid it would upstage them is another -- which is what I think she did with Ladd.

Stevie always has a lot to say about what Lindsey wants in her attire, from him wanting her naked on the cover of BN to him wanting her in a nun's habit in FM.
The only time I've ever thought that he was thinking something about her look was a moment in the Tusk video. She and Robin were doing her hair. It may have been for Rhiannon. He comes up and says something to them and I can't even hear him really. But I did get the impression that he might have been impatient with the chignon preparation.

Great idea. Black corset sounds good.

That's a good point, Michele. And, it is probably how the "monkey dance" was born. I think it's more about being impatient waiting than it is a dissatisfaction with the look.

But he'd be onstage playing OH WELL.

I think Chris said a thing or two in the distant past about Stevie Nicks dancing around like a faerie girle, with all her whatnot billowing about. Chris said this in the context of emphasizing just how ridiculous Chris herself would feel doing what Stevie did.

that's what was so cool about the late Tusk Tour legs: Christine started wearing Stevie's clothes! She'd be out there for WORLD TURNING, wearing Stevie's spangly cape, shaking maracas but shimmying in a Rhiannon dance all her own.

It's funny to look at the cover of the live album and wonder why Chris is dressed like Stevie. And why Lindsey is standing backwards.

Yes, you're right that Lindsey is on stage when Stevie is back stage before Rhiannon, but do you know the tour footage I'm talking about? He comes up to her and Robin and I don't think it's at the beginning of the show. I think it's during some sort of break in the show. Maybe just before an encore. I have no idea. To me, it seems like he's saying hurry up, but I rewind and rewind and can't make out his actual words. He looks anxious.

Another time in that video, Lindsey doesn't come up to her and Robin, but he looks like he will and Stevie seems pretty jumpy about that. She is over a steam machine. Inhaling the steam for her throat and Lindsey is across the room and she keeps looking at him coming and when he does get near them, he doesn't say anything. But she looked like she thought he would.

But speaking of preparations, in 2003 some NY columnist interviewed him and he said Stevie needed two hours before the show and the reporter asked what she was doing in those 2 hours. Was she getting a massage or what? He said he didn't know. He just knew she needed two hours. It made me laugh because he seemed to be thinking it's a "mystery to me" what women do or why they do it.

Also, for the SYW tour, she got dressed on the side of the stage for Rhiannon, while he was doing NGBA. You could see her assistant putting on her bat wings. I always thought that was real cool. I also always thought that it was odd to see Stevie's bare arms on stage. I hadn't seen those since the eighties!
