It's crazy to think that they opened for Janis and Jimi.

"Opened" is a somewhat strong term. A lot of venues will let a local group play a set whenever a national act plays the venue. There's a local covers band here in Dayton that played at the venue when the Zoo were in town in 1992. They weren't otherwise on any of the Zoo's bills, so calling them the "opening act" is somewhat of a stretch.

Still, I wonder how much a poster would be worth had they ever been on the same bill as Fleetwood Mac back in say 1970. It could've happened. Lord knows the Mac played on the same bills as those guys. (And, Danny Kirwan was all but raped by Janis Joplin...)

Yes, it is. You aren't really "opening" for a headlining band when you're playing at an all-day festival several hours before said headliner takes the stage.

These are incredible photos, though!

Even if "opened" is a strong term, it's still amazing to see a photo of that *moment*, given all of the stories we've heard of how much it meant to Stevie to see Janis that night and how it changed her.

It's great seeing everyone in their mod best! Especially Lindsey. His short tie! (And, god, he looks gorgeous...........)

Where have you BEEN?!

Looking at these photos, I am confirmed in my view that Javier was the most talented & most interesting member of the band. He was a better keyboardist than Chris McVie, & he could write wonderful, complex songs like "In the Dawn."

Oh, I have just been working a lot, and still spend most internet spare time on that singing site.
I think I am gonna hang out a bit more here
