Default NEW FL. MAC DVD and Rumours CD with unreleased tracks.

I might have missed it, I don't read every thread. But I'm surprised that nobody is talking about the new DVD/CD set that's going to be released to coincide with the tour.

Really? You're surprised? Most of us who've been her a while are SICK of the various repackagings of Rumours. I bet MOST people here would be more excited with expanded reissues of Fleetwood Mac Live, Mirage, Tango In The Night, and whatever the hell else they could reissue before a Rumours boxed set.

Me? I'm waiting for the 1973 and 1975 sets from Midnight Special to come out on DVD. It'll never happen, but damnit, it should for Miles Away, Believe Me, and Why. For that matter, release the Midnight Special from 1974. Those were a glorious, if not mostly underrated time in Fleetwood Mac's history.

You may have a good point there SteveMacD. I'm more interested in the video myself.

But isn't this a better topic than, oh...I don't know, another poll?

I don't know, let's post a poll and ask people what they think.

I am interested in the "never before heard" stuff, but how many times do they need to re-issue Rumours?

I agree with you though Tango isn't my favorite lp/cd....I'd still throw 'Live' in there as well.....they could put a 'ton' more rare live material for that cd too....and release some 'live' dvd footage too......As much as I have liked Rumours.....they keep beating a long dead horse....yes we know its your best selling LP ever....I'm curious to really know how much 'more' rare songs could be unrelased from that period. Personally, on the Tusk re-issue (2 cd set) on the rare cd I still kinda feel cheated some. I mean they put 3 of the same Lindsey songs on it when there were more songs of Stevies they could've put on it....so other then the 'rare' Sara version which most of us have heard (though great to have it 'finally' on cd)....they still could've given us killer versions of Angel or SOTM with the extra verses/or Storms.....whatever else.....So in some ways I'm kinda bummed about that one really.....and rare photos and such.....not the best....so I will be curious to 'see' what actually becomes of this supposed cd/dvd release coming up?? I do wonder.....I do hope its not cheated again.....thats all.....IMO any other thoughts......

The more risky and adventurous thing for Fleetwood Mac to do in 2009 is to release a CD/DVD honoring their other masterpiece in the year of it's 30th anniversary .They could perform Tuskcentric shows .Nicks could do all of her stellar songs from that album including of course the never performed live Storms .Buckingham would have nine songs to choose from or do them alll..realistically the only Christine song that would really work is Think About Me.Naturally though they will choose the option that they think will appeal to the largest amount possible of ticket buyers and go with yet another Rumours retread.

Actually, it just hit me that maybe the Rumours re-release on CD will be joined by a vinyl 180 gram re-release of Rumours!!! The prospect of that actually has me VERY for a Rumours re-release.

Really? How many repackagings have there been? There was the "original" CD release from the 80's, then later, a few years ago, the remastered version with the CD of outtakes. That's only two in CD format. And most bands/artists have released remastered versions of the bad-sounding CDs that were put out by the labels in the 80's when CDs first came out; this is not by any means Rumours-specific. Ok, then there was the DVD-Audio, but that was a different format that required a DVD-A player to actually hear the mix; this won't even play on a CD palyer, and now the format is dead, anyway.

Were there other releases of Rumours besides these?

That was my take on it as well. they had to release it in a different format so it could sell on. I am just excited about the DVD. I am sure that with enough YOUTUBE views you will have seen the most it has to offer. Maybe I wrong. Maybe it will showcase some REALLY different material. Either way, I will buy it because I SUPPORT THIS BAND. They have given me good times and I feel it is my duty to return the favor.

Vinyl
8-track
cassette
cassette with the white Fleetwood Mac album
CD
DVD-A
Expanded edition CD (which didn't sound all that different, to my ears)
Classic albums

Why do a Rumours box before remastering Mirage, which is the epitome of a bad-sounding CD put out in the 80's? Get to the other stuff first, then revisit Rumours. Hell, reissue the Tusk doc and Mirage concert video first. Dare I say reissue expanded editions of albums from Then Play On through Heroes Are Hard To Find? There is so much more to the band's history, and they're just going on cruise control with Rumours.

A classic example of how to release another expanded edition of a recently reissued/expanded album would be the Byrds album Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Yeah, it was recently reissued as a two CD set shortly after a remastered version was released. But, the other (Columbia) albums were reissued with remastered/expanded editions first.

Good call. The Dance was basically the tribute tour to Rumours, in my eyes anyway. "Everything you do has been done."

I'm starting to believe the only thing that would make me happy at this point is if they play Rumours start to finish & Christine is there. So I'm going to shut up now.

Let's not forget Greatest Hits with 4 Rumours songs, The Chain box AND The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac both with 10 of the 12 songs (includes "Silver Springs"), and The Dance with 6 of its 17 tracks being from Rumours...."beating a dead horse"?? This is just psychotic how they've kept rehashing ONE album over & over....and not just Rumours, add in the rehashing of the 1975 album's songs, too, and you'd think those were the only two albums Fleetwood Mac ever released.

I WOULD LOVE to have the TUSK documentary. I don't care how much it would cost! I just loved that! I lost it in a house fire that I had YEARS ago, along with a HUGE collection of things released before I was born, lol. I need to see TUSK DOC re-released on BLURAY! LOL (LIKE THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN!) I just hope that this doesn't put the mac in with meatloaf, stuck int that, "bat out of hell" situation... ya know?
