Default Warner/Reprise has something up their sleeve

Two days ago, on December 3rd, it was announced by Warner/Reprise that Fleetwood Mac would be hitting the road in March with a new tour and CD/DVD release. Two days later, today, Stevie's Soundstage CD and DVD release dates are changed to March 24th. Coincidence? I think not...

It appears (at least to me) that Warner/Reprise are planning some kind of cross promotional stunt here, by promoting Stevie's live release and Fleetwood Mac's tour and compilation release. As we remember, when Stevie was on Ellen Degeneres' show last year, while promoting Crystal Visions, she was asked if Fleetwood Mac was getting back together, and the question definitely caught her off guard. So, it looks like someone at the record company thought that if they release Stevie's solo project and Fleetwood Mac's compilation around the same time (in March), while the Mac are on tour, that the money would come pouring in. It's just TOO coincidental that two days after Fleetwood Mac's March tour announcement that Stevie's Soundstage is then moved to March for release. Thoughts?

By the way, iamnotafraid said 2 and 1/2 weeks ago that the dates had changed, so he had the heads up on all of this!

It makes sense for the record company to hold it... I mean generally artists try to promote whatever release they have going out, and with Stevie in rehearsals in January, she's not gonna have time, and that's probably not where her head is going to be anyway. And since the band is going to be getting publicity anyway around the tour, it makes sense to lump it all together - Her CD/DVD may get more mentions this way then if she was just promoting it on her own. For once, I think the record company might have something right. Plus, I'm sure it's a cost saver on their part. They're just trying to maximize the exposer it could get.

To me it didn't look like she was caught off guard by Ellens questions about FM, she looked more like.... yeah, yeah, yeah, I knew you were going to ask me this... she didn't hesitate or pause at all before launching into the fact that FM never goes away...

Yea, very good points.

On Ellen, i thought she stumbled a bit when she said, "it's not no, it's not not, absolutely no", but yea, she knows that people are very interested in Fleetwood Mac reuniting.

Hmmm...it does make sense that they would make it coincide, and since these things don't come to pass overnight, perhaps that's why they kept hedging with the release date in the first place...

I haven't gotten my Amazon date change email yet, though...I'd better check to see it's still on pre-order...thanks for the heads up!

Having both of these dvds out at the same time? It's almost like a competition to see whom is more popular. With the economy in a now declared recession, this seems like a very stupid move.

With Ellen, I thought that Stevie and Lindsey were still at odds, so she wasn't saying much. Not that she didn't know she was going to tour eventually. We all did. She just wasn't saying anything.

It's "all the same", so no stupidity on their management's part. It's actually pretty darn smart marketing.

The bump of Stevie Nicks Soundstage DVD to MARCH 2009 is probably not the same one that PBS has already selling for the past two months. Is it possible this is a different DVD or CD with BB on it???

The DVD and CD are different than PBS' version because the CD has BATB and the DVD has Dreams and the orchestrated version of Landslide, plus both have different names and artwork.

^^^^^^
Even though they are different, I have my PBS SoundStage dvd recorded from PBS. I feel all set with that.
Now with FM, I am willing to pay the extra price for them. Though some think this was a smart idea to have both out at the same time, I am reading that many are forgoing the FM concert BECAUSE the lack of money. Which probably means the dvd also.
For some of us , money is an issue. And I suspect for some of us makes up for a lot of people.jmo of corse. Everyday the news has more and more layoffs. It IS affecting the way people buy and spend.
