Default I am crying over a poster!

For the last 10 years I have been searching high and low for the Stevie Nicks "Enchanted" promo poster. The pic of her with the blue Lamp. Sunday afternoon, I see it on Ebay for 10.00 I place a bid for 11.00. I am the only bidder all week long. Hoping and praying that I win this. Tonight, I log onto ebay and was out bid by .50. So I bid 15.00, they bid higher it got to 31.00, and I was too late and I lost. I have been crying and upset. Hoping so hard that I would win the one Stevie item that I have been searching for for 10 years, and I lost it. Someone make me happy again. If someone knows the poster that I am speaking of, let me know where I can find another one, or if you could make a copy for me. I can't believe that I waited patiently all week for this and I lost it. If that person who won the poster happens to be here on the Ledge, I hope you are happy because I am not. I hope they read this. I never get to spoil myself and buy anything for myself, and the one time I want to, someone takes it away from me. I know that it's just a poster, but to me it's been something that I have been searching for for 10 years and it's personal why all of this seems personal to me. But I have my reasons for being upset. I just wanted something good to come my way. Sorry to cry a river, but I am sad and wanted a hug.

Hang in there...you will get it one day!! Btw, my tip for ebay is to be at home when the bidding ends and to continually hit the refresh key to make sure you have the highest bid at closing.

Oh, I was watching it for the last 5 hours and nothing, then suddenly I am away from the computer for 15 minutes and boom, 1 min, and 30 seconds was suddenly on the clock and someone got it. I didn't know about the refresh button. Thanks for the tip. I will remember that in the future.

Here is a tip for you should you ever see it on e-bay again. Put it in your "watched items" list and then wait till the last minute literally to put in a bid, but make sure you set the maximum bid to the highest amount you are willing to go up. That way anyone who might try to outbid you at the last minute will have to keep trying to beat your maximum bid. Hopefully you already had it in your watched items list so that if it is re-listed you will be notified.

Sorry you didn't get it, but try not to take it personally or be upset with the person who did win it. You don't know their circumstances, like they don't know yours. They may have been waiting just as long to find it.

Or you can use http://www.auctionsniper.com/, it does all the work for you, it costs money but the first few times it's free.

That's true. I've never used an autobid program. I know they are against e-bay policy, but I wonder if there is even a way for them to check?

I can totally understand how you feel....I just lost out on an auto CV poster as well.....I probably didn't bid high enough....but well I can't help it ....sometimes I'd LOVE to get a bargin so I guess I'll try again.....I've been outbid many, many times in the LAST seconds....even when I am on it to ....I guess it just comes down to how badly do you want it......really....there really hasn't been alot of 'rare' Stevie items for months on ebay....or at least when I check....are people just not selling or is there another site there selling at that I haven't heard of?? Very interesting....actually it seems 'boring' at ebay of late....esp with Christmas coming up.....I don't think I can recall ever seeing it this boring.....
So I do understand how your feeling.....I've been outbid before & not just on Stevie stuff either somethings I didn't think anyone else would want or care about.....guess I was wrong.....keep checking and looking ya never know when one could come up again.....Its not a nice feeling.....esp when you've been seeking something like forever or finding something you didn't even know exsisted. All's I can say is to all that bid at the last sec's....just 'think' about it esp if that person had it the 'whole' time before you bid on it.....chances are it means 'more' to the person thats had the lead on the item than you bidding on it in the last seconds....I almost think others do that just to show that they can win......not because they really want the item in question....well its just a thought.......maybe not 'all' but some I do wonder.....some have to just have everything.....in my opinion that is.....sad but true....no offence anyone just IMO.......hey we've probably all been on the 'losing' end of a bid.....but I guess just think of it that well you don't have to pay for it & they may have to pay alot more for said item.....even over pay too.....
PS: I have faith that you'll find it again....believe!!

When I'm outbid on things I really, really wanted I just tell myself that it was not my time to have that particular item in my collection at this point in time. I've also seen items I paid a lot for come tumbling down in price, particularly recently with the bad economy and everything, so who knows-maybe another one like it will show up again and it will be even cheaper then. Hell, I got a great price on the "Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Stevie" book after years of bidding on it and losing it. There's nothing I've ever seen FM/Stevie related that hasn't shown back up on Ebay at some point in time.

DeeGeMe is right - another one will come back up. I got my Enchanted promo poster from eBay months ago, and for a rock-bottom-deal-type price - I'd been looking for one for a long time, too, and there it was finally.

The one thing I really want for my collection that I always seem to miss out on is the 3 Uncirculated Rumours albums set.

And I'd knock over an old lady for one of the OSOTM tour kaleidoscopes, but I NEVER see those on eBay. Sigh.

Hang in there, that poster isn't exactly rare (I have two of them, they are double sided and I have both sides displayed). So it will show up again.
Sometimes it's better that you don't win. However if you REALLY want it, put your first bid as high as you're willing to pay. If the poster is worth $40 to you, then make that your first bid. If anyone wants they will have to keep jacking up their bid until they past you, they might just give up and let you have it. You won't always pay that high bid, you could bid $40 as your max and then win it for $25 you just never know.
Then there are times when you see something and think you have to have it. So you make your max bid and then end up actually winning it!! I did that with my Rock A Little platinum award. I saw it, said "what the hell" and put in a bid of $500 and won. I love the award and it hangs in my living room, but at the time it dawned on me after the fact that I now owed $500 !!!!

Hey Sanne..

Thanks for posting about that! I was trying to think what that sniping site was called.. and that's it! Someone posted that a long time ago on here... but I haven't been on ebay to buy anything in forever, since I haven't had the money! LOL.. Some did tell me that there were all sorts of FM tickets already on there, and I can't believe that..

The worst part about this is that I used to have a copy of this poster and I threw it out when I moved out of my parents house. I thought I might have kept it so I went looking for it when I saw your post as I would have sent it to you, but it is definitely gone.

I used to have all these Stevie/FM posters when I was single but then when I moved in with my girlfriend (later my wife) I ditched the lot (this was in the pre-ebay days - well I didn't have the net anyway). Well the only one I didn't ditch was my Behind The Mask poster. As we were living in a rental I had it propped up behind my stereo and the cat went behind it and knocked it over. The glass smashed and cut the poster to ribbons.
