^^^It's nothing like the previous GNR albums, definitely a more modern sound to the tracks that takes this version of GNR TOTALLY away from the so-called "L.A. Hard Rock" genre.
Equal parts rock and hard rock with a healthy dose of the electronic genre (ie a heavy NIN influence incorporated throughout) fused together to make a great album. Those who miss the ol' GNR sound will be put off by the current sound, but I prefer this more updated sound over the original lineups sound, this album may have taken years to finally see the light of day, but it does NOT sound dated to me whereas AFD era GNR sounds VERY DATED. Though the wait is over now since "Chinese Democracy" has finally arrived, I hope it will NOT be another decade for the follow-up (But from what I have heard through the grapevine, this is just the first release of a trio of albums over the next 3 years) 4 out of 5 stars I thought one review was rather funny to read: "Imagine Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffitti remixed by Trent Reznor & Beck" Currently listening to "If the World" from "Chinese Democracy", equal parts modern hard rock and flamenco

I went to the song list on my iPod and hit shuffle, this is the most amazing thing! I heard Fleetwood Mac, The Connells, Don Henely, Some Lindsey Solo, Rush, Beethoven, 3 Doors Down, Tom Petty. Right now the band Journey is on.

I listened to...

The dynamics of "Chinese Democracy" are MUCH better than those of Metallica's "Death Magnetic" in the sonic catergory. The album just jumps out at you and sounds very modern and crisp, not dated at all considering how old some of the tracks are reported to be. Currently playing: "Manhattan Project" by Rush, from "A Show of Hands" (I have a HUGE stack of new compact discs I am FINALLY able to focus on to listen and enjoy - and of course having an autograph of Lacuna Coil's HOT Italian female lead singer Cristina Scabbia makes on feel ever so better!!!)
