I can't say that I've ever heard a decent live version of Hold Me. The smooth harmonies are studio made and can't be replicated on-stage

Stevie looks and sounds beautiful here...And Lindsey's guitar solo at the end is stellar. Fleetwood Mac at its best.

As for the best album version... I voted for Hold Me. I love Gypsy just as equally, but I prefer the '82 music video version, with Lindsey's extended guitar solo.

That Mirage version of Gypsy gets me every time I see it. She starts off on a brighter note and then takes it and the listener into darkness with her "bright eyes --- bright eyes . . . . " I cried the first billion times I saw that.

Gypsy is the initial reason I became a Fleetwood Mac fan. The song an d the video. Both were magic!

I voted Hold Me but they are both up there with the very cream of Mac stuff so I could have gone either way really.

they're both such excellent productions, such excellent tracks, that I don't know which one to vote in (or out). To find engineering & arrangements this clever & this energetically good, one would have to go back to "Mama's Pearl" or "The Love You Save" ten years earlier.

It's a mark of GYPSY's amazing sound & style that the nasally, bleating lead vocal (straying repeatedly off key) doesn't make you flinch more than once -- twice at most -- so I'll vote for GYPSY. The levels are controlled so well that the track sounds equally great in a car, on a home stereo, in headphones, or blasting out of outdoor amplifiers.

I think she is on key on the album cut and it is a solid vocal.

Now - the live versions, though some are compelling - OY - most sound like a dorm bathroom after chilli night in the mess hall
