Christine sucks on Mirage no less than the other who. IMO, it's the weakest effort by all of them. Gypsy is good but not great, EOTW is blown away by any live version, Hold Me is good but still a little flat. My favourite of the studio versions on Mirage is Book of Love and it's gone. Overall I think it is the Christine/Lindsey/Stevie line-up's weakest album together but it's still decent because it works quite well as a cohesive unit.

Stupid-ass Straight Back ain't better than Eyes of the World nor Love in Store.
And yes that is MY opinion.
Congratulations on having a better grass-roots approach. Maybe the non-chiffonheads should all get together, and then attack Straight Back and then Gypsy. Who cares what song really is people's favorites, let's stuff the ballot box on a frivolous poll.
And to think, this is what I donated my money too.

Don't be a sore loser. BTW Stevie still loves you even if you hate her song.

I'm not a sore loser, I just think this poll has become ridiculous with the "vote this out, so Stevie stays" mantra.

This era, I was one of Stevie's biggest fans going (I cried one day when I missed the beginning of a concert on HBO, pre-VCR!). But Love in Store still kicks Straight Back in the heiny!

The chiffonheads are taking my beautiful love for all three Mac singers and twisting it into this thing that I don't even like. Mac has never been about taking sides for me.

Love in Store is my favorite song on the record. I'm crushed that it's being voted down.

I love Christine's work on Mirage. All of it.

I have decided if Love in Store goes, I do too. Which of course makes it easier for the chiffon contingent, but 1. they don't seem to be having trouble any way and 2. this is supposed to be before fun and it's starting to be frustrating.

Amen to that. This is a farce, I've been saying so ever since GYOW didn't make the final of Rumours tbh. The voting pattern here is so blatantly pathetic. If you look at it, Straight Back has had pretty much consistent voting throughout the poll, from the likes of me and you Macpai. But every bloody chiffonhead's opinion about their least favourite song appears to change consistently to whatever non Stevie song already has the most votes when they sign in.

Retarded.

I was just yanking jbrownsjr's chain a little

Actually, though Gypsy could be the most beautiful collaborative effort by them ever, Wish You Were Here is one of my fav. CM songs ever. I think it is stunning. Though I really like her other stuff (I love Hold Me (another stunning group effort) and Love in Store), I think CM is best when she stays true to the bluesy piano a la Wish You Were Here. Also, the harmonies on WYWH are cool.

Interstingly, La Nicks plays this song during the Rolling Stone photo shoot around the time of Bella Donna (ditto for the music to Can't Go Back). So, this song must predate that time.

Also, I love Mirage.

Mirage might be my favorite FM album. It's not that I necessarily think it's the best, but I guess it was the first album I anticipated. Tusk was already out by the time I became a fan. So, Mirage was the first one I waited for with that fanatic lust. Plus, I was in college then and much more into music than I've ever been at any other time in my life.

I listened on vinyl and would have to get up and turn the album over (a lot of work!). I think I fell asleep to it many, many times. It brings back so many fond memories that, even today, I find the album very comforting and have listened to it after funerals. It makes me feel a little lighter, a little younger.

I think Hold Me is a band best of all time and I also love both of Christine's closing songs. No better coda.

Michele
