I'm not going to dance around the subject here. I'm going to be blunt about this.
Two years ago, my father had surgery for bladder cancer (I posted about this back when it was occurring), and until a few months ago, we thought that he'd be okay for a while. This morning, I was told that he's dying of cancer, and probably only has a few weeks to live. I've known him for years, and come to accept him as a fatalistic, depressive person. It's absolutely infuriating that no one has ever been able to properly communicate with him, but I guess there's no point in bitching about that now. As upset as I am, I understand that he is more accepting of his fate than the rest of his family. Although my mother and him are technically separated, she wants him to come stay at our apartment so he isn't left alone. Unfortunately, we aren't really equipped to take on the sort of care required for him, and he might have to be taken in by a hospice. We just want him to be comfortable in his last days, to spend some time with people who love him, and to eat properly just for once. I tend to be an emotionally vacant person, so I'd be happy to accept any support I could get around now. I just don't need a pity parade following me around. |

So sorry to hear about your dad. I can't imagine what you are going through. This summer I lost a friend through cancer. I remember all the visits in her last few weeks of her life. We shared a lot and encouraged each other. I'm hoping in the last days of your dads life will be the most loving and fulfilling for the both of you.
My prayers will be with you. |

I'm returning the love that many have given me through the past couple of weeks. Just hang in there ok? Make sure you make your Father as comfortable as you can and love him as much as you can...

This could open up your heart. Which of course would mean pain, sorry you're going through this and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about your father. Although he is in his twilight, just loving him is a wonderful gift you could give him.
You are in my thoughts. Gretchen |

I was 17 when my dad died of cancer, age 42, so I relate to this dude. Hug him as much as you can.
You and I irritate the sh*t out of eachother, Savage, but you're in my thoughts. Honestly.
