Gift of Screws album lyrics

[michelej1]

Well, I think it's similar to a whip that is used on a horse that's driving a carriage. You whip and spur the horse to go faster and faster. The "god with a rod" would be the people in control extracting more, more, more from the people working for them. Harder, faster, bigger, better.

And coming next to the whores we adore line, it's the same Underground message. Bowing down to the commercial gods, the Billboard-rated machinery. But I do think "rod" serves a dual purpose, can have a double meaning there, as in "rock cock" from Wrong.
