Not to mention, how much is sugar momma standing to lose in the financial crisis?

Letterman's resposne to McCain's cancellation:

McCain wasn't on his way to the airport but blocks away with Katie Couric doing an exclusive interview for CBS News. This is a major gaffe for the McCain campaign. It could well cost him this election.

There we have it. Video proof of McCain's willingness to say one thing and do another.

Thanks for posting.

Again, another response that doesn't address the point. Try to defend Obama's response. It was flip and it shows he fails to grasp the severity of the situation. McCain has ALWAYS done things like this. This is hardly new. He loves the camera.

First of all, that was a joke on how similar these two arguments sound, I wasn't being serious. Second, he hasn't suspended his campaign. He said he would, but his offices are still open, he did more interviews and he is still airing commercials. And your last remark is exactly true. This was not to help the bill (obviously, because when he and Obama arrived, the thing imploded), it was to get on the front page of CNN.com.

And I believe the time line has been a little distorted here. Obama called McCain at 8:30 am and said they need to put out a joint statement. McCain called back at 2:30 pm and said sure. Eight minutes later, he announced the "suspension of the campaign.

And is anyone else wierded out that the Democrats in Congress are the ones fighting beside GW and his administration for the bill and the conservatives are the ones complaining?

One problem is that according to McCain's campaign a few days ago, Obama never called McCain before the suspension. Obama says that, but there seems to be some confusion as to who talked to who.

As for the last part, Bush has long since swung left, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

But Bush is still the Democrats' sworn enemy; in fact, some of them were only elected because of Bush and to stop him. I just wish that everyone could agree on at least one issue every now and then. Sometimes it seems like people disagree just to disagree rather than because they actually have a problem.
