Does your partner hate Stevie?

Last night on TV we saw a mention of Stevie and Edge of Seventeen. Later before bed my wife goes "I've still got that song by that STUPID woman in my head"

So, innocently I ask "Which woman"

"You know which one"

"Oh you mean Stevie"

"Yes you know I mean Stevie"

My wife has suffered for the past 10 years with my Fleetwood Mac/Stevie addiction. When I first met her she actually liked a couple of FM songs, but now she hates them all. I dragged her along to both the FM and Stevie concert. She sat there hoping that Stevie would fall off the stage while twirling...

She does admit though that she hates Christine more than Stevie. Sadly she has come to hate most of my music Rod Stewart, Bonnie Tyler, Bob Dylan (she refused to go to his concert), etc.

So, anyone else got a partner who passionately hates Stevie/FM?

Oh and as a side note, when we met I told her that I if we had a daughter we had to call her Rhiannon. Well, ten years later (no kids yet) we are thinking of having a baby and now I am fighting to have Rhiannon as a middle name...

Wow, it sounds like your wife really doesn't like Stevie. Well, back in the 70s, I didn't really like her either or her music. She's a little different though now then back then. I don't really think my husband hates her, but I think he still thinks she's like she was back then. He does go with me to her shows & once to see Fleetwood Mac, but he says stuff like she's sleeping with all the men in Fleetwood Mac, & the members of her band like Waddy. Well, she did have that kind of reputation back then, but she's totally not like that now, I'm sure. I just saw the thread about Stevie's underwear on E-Bay, & that's funny because my husband thinks she doesn't ever wear any underwear on stage. My husband does like Fleetwood Mac's, Lindsey's (solo) & Stevie's (solo) music.

For a while, my Brazilian boyfriend loved to challenge me at every opportunity when it came to Stevie. He just doesn't get her music, or why I find everything surrounding her so damn funny. And he thinks I spend way too much on this message board. Now, he won't speak of her in English. Every complaint of "here we go again" is whispered under his breath in Portuguese. He's even drawn moustaches and beards on pictures of her.

ah yes thats something else my wife always says...about how many men Stevie has slept with...I think she says it jokingly but I can't be sure

My husband is joking, well, I think he is anyway. But really it's none of my business who Stevie slepts with or hasn't slept with. All this history she has though, that the band has is intriguing to me. Their obvious chemistry together (& music) when I saw them on TV in The Dance is what finally drew me in.

All of my boyfriends have just been rather indifferent towards her. None hated her, but none were nuts about her either. Although one did own Red Rocks, and knew it inside and out. It was he and an old high school buddy's 'obliteration tape.' They always put it on when they were in the mood to get really f!cked up, I guess Stevie guided the way for them in her coked out stupor LOL. Come to think of it, he may have owned a Mac album or two as well. He was more a fan of Christine though. I drug yet another boyfriend to go see Stevie in 2005. I think he actually really had fun. But again... none of them were fans by any means. I think they just thought she was OK because her music meant so much to me.

My husband like Stevie. He said there is something about her. He doesn't go
to all of the Stevie concerts with me, but he gone to two and one with Fleetwood
Mac. I am bringing him with me next year to see Fleetwood Mac

my husband knew that when we got together that stevie was part of the package~
but he was a fan of the mac before i met him~ he graduated in 1978 & had 2 copies of rumours~ he likes stevie & will go to ends of the earth so i can see her live~

Nice Jill!! That's awesome! My boyfriend John, I met on the "Stevie Nicks Chain" - so that's sorta a "given" that he knows Stevie comes along with the package here too, and knowing he's into her as well, boy does that help! LOL.. He also loves the Mac too, so I think we are SOOOO lucky in that aspect.. I dunno what I'd do if my significant other didn't like Stevie.. I guess I would just be listening in the car and going to her shows by myself.. or with my buds, instead of him.. ? LOL

A couple of boyfriends ago named Carlos said it would be ok with him if I played my new rock CD and so I put on Crystal Visions. When it was over he said all the songs sounded the same. He had never heard of Stevie Nicks before. I always date Hispanic men and none of them had ever heard of FM or Stevie.

My wife doesn't dislike Fleetwood Mac, but doesn't really like them either. I think she likes the Lindsey Buckingham stuff more than the Stevie Mac tunes.

My previous "long term relationship" was with a girl named Stephanie. She detested Stevie Nicks. Just to rub her wrong I'd call her Stevie sometimes. I've learned in recent years that most all of her friends now call her "Stevie." =)

Aw, jeez. :-( What's the reasoning behind hating her so much? Do you think she's maybe jealous? Zee wimmins, they can be zee crazy.

I have an ex that didn't care for her at all and would sometimes crack sarcastic jokes, but nothing so bad as what you are dealing with. I'm sorry she is like that to you. I feel like the music we love is a fundamental part of our personalities, so when you go after what someone likes, it's basically a way of saying that you think they're inferior somehow for liking something you don't.

My boyfriend is probably what you'd call neutral about Stevie & the Mac, but he humors me because he knows how much I love it all. He was going to take me to see Stevie in Ontario over the summer, but we ended up scrapping that to see Leonard Cohen instead - I'd already seen Stevie twice this year, and the Cohen show was a once in a lifetime chance that we couldn't pass up. We also ended up seeing Morris Day and the Time the night before the Cohen show, which was a total blast.

While being neutral on Stevie, however, he is a major Waddy fan (partly due to being a major Warren Zevon fan), so I can sometimes get away with rambling about Stevie by mentioning Waddy a few times.

To show my appreciation for his tolerance and patience in the face of my rabid fan-geekery, I made it my mission to snag one of Waddy's picks for him at the last Stevie show I went to, which he was really pleased with.

My ex boyfriend didnt like Stevie...his band and his friends made fun of me and Stevie...lol...They only did it to piss me off until I just didnt care anymore...So they stopped. He would put up with Stevie but he didnt really like her.

My crush likes Stevie Nicks My other guy friend likes Stevie ...he made me make him a mix cd with all of my facvorite Stevie songs.
