Great pics, Viv!!! I'll add a few if you don't mind. I believe they're from the same era.

I was at this show. This was my third Wild Heart concert that I attended and the best of the three I saw. I originally found out about these two shows in a Connecticut newspaper I picked up in August. Without that paper I never would have known about these shows. Three tickets were purchased for me, my brother and my friend Adam. My brother was the one who got me into Stevie's music in the first place. He really didn't want to drive that far because it was a work night for him. He agreed to drive us if I agreed to drive us home so he would be able to sleep. He had a little Toyota and one of the rear windows was broken. I was very skinny then and the wind coming into the car from the highway made me freeze to death. It was a three hour drive from our home to NYC.
(Years later another friend of mine drove us to NYC from here to there in 90 minutes, but that's another story altogether)
Anyway I remember when we got there we lucked out in finding a parking spot just one block from the theatre. We got out and strolled around outside the David Letterman Studios and took pictures of ourselves with the Radio City sign behind us.
We had smoked a ton of weed on the trip there.
Earlier in this story when I was talking about my bro wanting me to drive us home, I forgot to mention that his only condition on me was that I stay awake so he could get to work ontime the next morning. I agreed it would be no problem even tho I knew deep inside of me I was only saying what he wanted to hear. I know me and I knew I was gonna be exhausted from all the partying we were gonna be doing.
Once inside the theatre we were very impressed with its beauty. The walls were red, the ceilings were high and a long staircase with red carpet brought guests up to the balcony seating. I saw Stevie's friend Injun leaning up against the wall in the lobby but was too intimidated to approach him.
We went to our seats which were like row 26 or something and when the lights went down and Stevie emerged we went nuts. The whole audience went nuts. We barely sat down at all. I remember us screaming at the top of our lungs in our admiration for this woman and her music. In those days smoking was allowed indoors so we had no problem lighting our cigarettes and our joints. We nearly fainted when her suprise guest came out. Mr. Tom Petty, who joined her onstage to sing I Will Run To You and Stop Draggin'.
When the show was over we walked back to the car and I bought a large B/W pic of Stevie from a street vendor. We were all exhausted and my bro reminded me of my promise to stay awake and drive us home. Somewhere along that drive I couldn't take it anymore. The two of them were fast asleep and I was ready to crash as I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired, so I pulled over at some rest stop and slept for three hours. My brother didn't figure it out until we got back to town. That's when I woke him up and he was pissed cause he was gonna be late for work. But when it comes to seeing Stevie guys, you gotta do what you gotta do. You know what I mean?
Years later when I got a bootleg tape of this show and listened to it, I wasn't all that impressed with her singing. But while we were there it was so exciting and we were so in love, we didn't even notice it was just a so/so show.

But sometimes the audio of the bootleg doesn't do the show or the vocals justice, so maybe it was great. Michele

I don't know about that. Her eyes are red and she might need to trim some of those nosehairs.

Oh, you are too funny. Hey, with the cocaine, she's lucky to have nose hairs.

HEADLINE: Bowie's act worthy of $1.5 million tab U2 and Stevie Nicks make breakthroughs at the US Festival

BYLINE: LIAM LACEY; GAM

DATELINE: SAN BERNARDINO, CA

BODY:

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Until Monday, the US Festival was missing a
vital element - great performances. Except for the huge crowds and The
Clash's performance on Saturday, there was nothing to give the audience
the sense of being witness to something extraordinary. But on Monday, the
Festival's third day, there were three outstanding performances - from the
Irish group U2, from former Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, and above
all, from David Bowie.

Nothing could have been more remote from U2's earnest concerns than the
second-last act of the day, Stevie Nicks. David Bowie, making his first
tour of North America since the mid-seventies, was the main draw, and it
looked as if Miss Nicks might have a hard time winning over the audience.

By the end of her act she was almost emotionally overcome. "If you ever
think you don't matter," she told the audience, "I want you all to know
that you're the only thing that matters to me." And the audience watched
the video screen in respectful awe as tears began rolling down her cheeks.

By the end of her set, it was obvious the onus had shifted to David
Bowie to try to win the audience back. But the moment rock's Thin White
Duke sauntered out on stage, with a wan smile to the audience, the game
was up. As he has done so often in his career, Bowie gave a performance
that rewrote all the rules for rock music, and The Woz, The Clash, and
even Stevie Nicks - tears, black lace and all - receded into irrelevance.
But she had a couple of things on her side: the California setting and
audience were ideally suited to the moody, melodic standards - Rhiannon,
Say That You Love Me, and Over My Head. Miss Nicks' band, which included E
Street Band pianist Roy Bittan, was superb.

Maybe I don't have the whole show, I don't know but the DVD I have of her US Festival performance does not have Say You Love Me or Over My Head. I doubt she would do Chris's material in her solo show.

Perhaps most important was Miss Nicks' striking good looks, and she was
the first performer of the Festival who benefited incalculably from the
huge video screens on each side of the stage.

That's a sexist comment. I guess her actual songs/voice have nothing to do with her appeal. That's not to say that Stevie isn't "strikingly good looking, she is but that's not all.

Miss Nicks, dressed in a
low-cut, black lace evening dress, had most of her audience in an erotic
reverie, but to her credit, she managed to maintain an intense aura of
vulnerability under the scrutiny of 100,000 pairs of eyes. The warmth was
obviously genuine, and Miss Nicks was the first performer of the Festival
to actually touch hands with the audience over the barrier.

An erotic reverie? lol. She has always had a genuine love and appreciation of her fans.

She was so cute and having so much fun. Great show.

ECCENTRIC NICKS GIVES DELICATE CONCERT

Ken Tucker, Inquirer Popular Music Critic

Stevie Nicks , who performed at the Spectrum last night, is a very unusual pop artist: an intensely mannered and eccentric performer whose mannerisms and eccentricity yield good music.

Nicks usually performs as part of the band Fleetwood Mac, but she has just released her second solo album, "The Wild Heart" (Modern), and her show last night concentrated on material from that new disc.

For this tour as a headliner, she has assembled a first-rate band consisting of players from other groups, including keyboardist Roy Bittan, from Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band; Benmont Tench, keyboardist from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers, and drummer Liberty DeVitto, the best thing that ever happened to Billy Joel. Together with lead guitarist Waddy Wachtel, this band played a lot of harsh, loud rock 'n' roll that was a nice contrast to Nicks' reedy, delicate voice.

Nicks' entire style of performance can, in fact, be described as delicate. In her wispy gowns and in the fluttery, flyaway dance steps she executes onstage, Nicks plays up the dreamy aspects of her music. The songs she writes are full of wise, young witches, bold princes and glowering monsters - this is fairy-tale rock 'n' roll, delivered with roiling melodrama.

What keeps it all from becoming too coy, however, is Nicks' penchant for creating firm, commanding melodies that bolster her woozy lyrics. At the Spectrum, she gave bright, unsentimental readings of hits such as "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," "Leather and Lace" and the current "Stand Back." In the end, Nicks skittered along the lip of the stage, accepting bouquets and squeezing the hands of gawking admirers, and as always, her apparent sincerity and guilelessness was impressive.

Preceding Nicks this evening was singer-guitarist Joe Walsh, whose billing on this tour is bigger than an opening act but smaller than co-headliner.

Walsh is a man in the midst of change: His old group, the Eagles, has disbanded, and so he's testing his solo wings by touring to promote his new album "You Bought It, You Name It" (Full Moon/Warner Bros.). This record is a desultory affair that doesn't begin to hint at the tough-guy good humor and sharp guitar-playing of which Walsh is capable.

Walsh's performance last night was charming but slight, with one exception - a terrific, extended version of his finest composition, "Life's Been Good," probably the most honest, and certainly the funniest, life-of-a-rock -star saga any musician has recorded.
I was at this show, my second concert ever, the first was FM the year before. I still have all my ticket stubs. My girlfriend's dad drove us to Philly and went to a bar while we were at the show. The show was awesome but I had already been seduced by Stevie the year before when she did "Sisters of the Moon" so anything she did after that was ok by me. I can say that her hold on me hasn't waned much since then either. lol.
