I am aware that the US presidency effects [affects? I hate using these words...ms AP English can never tell the difference. lol] the world. Just the fact that on awards night. :/

I'm sure though that a lot of pepole do like Obama outside the US...but IMO it's just cause after Bushy the Reps are done for basically. He gave them a bad name. Esp after Reagan, who IMO was our Nations BEST president [Clinton was a second, but only cause of how high our economy was at the time.] I truthfully don't have a party. I HATE Carter, I dilike JFK, but I liked FDR. I LOVE Reagan [sp? seriously...], I thought Eisenhower was OK except the Korea aspect, but I HATE Nixon.

So I guess it's just who's right at the time.

Ok, I absolutely hate all the music 2007 brought, but I must say Rihanna was awesome with "Life my Life". Loved it!

The problem with the Clinton economy is that it was largely based on Real Estate and Technology, which either has crashed or is crashing currently. It should not reflect on Clinton. The president has very little to do with the economy at all, other than setting tax policy.

Or elaborate schemes because he is an oil tycoon.

Clinton was never an oil tycoon. He made money from lecturing.

So, as a person in the UK who wants Obama to win, which is what I was referring to (I can only comment on Europeans - the Middle East is pretty far from me believe it or not and I'm not in contact with any of them), I'm like the Nazi/fascist regimes?
Your logic is hilarious and more than a little xenophobic.

That's taking it a little further than I meant it, it was just a very easy example. My point is that the Axis Powers liked Chamberlain because he was hesitant to use force and he was easy to push around. I think Putin, Ahmadinijad, Hugo Chavez or anyone else would prefer Obama because they could get away with just about anything and he'd be more than willing to run to the negotiating table and he probably would never use force. Obama doesn't have the same kind of "My country is best" attitude that McCain does, which is something I like about McCain. Obama would prefer that the US not be the superpower that it has been and would probably end up joining the US to the EU, whereas McCain wouldn't do something like that. That's my point.

I've explained it well enough and I've had enough discussions with you to know that if you want to take it further, you're probably just being bellicose.

I do have a question though, which is WHY exactly do you want Obama to be president? What is it exactly that you think he'll do and why do you think he's in any way shape or form qualified, or what in his record is attractive? I mean, is it just the fact that he isn't Bush that makes you like him? In all due respect, he's really done very little except run for office his entire career. He seems like a nice enough guy, I just don't think he's quite ready. Give him another 4-8 years in the senate and he may be a very good president then, he just seems basically ignorant of some very important issues like military strategy, political history and economics. I just don't know what his appeal is to Europe. Maybe he can run for president over there. LOL!

Well, I am kinda toying you. But yes, a big part of it is to do with the fact he's not Bush and McCain looks like he would be more of the same. The American election is being covered heavily in the press here, probably more than a UK election would in the US.

But back to more important matters: the Jonas brothers. Their perfect eyebrows and girly hair kind of scares me - they almost look like anime characters.

Just bear in mind that there is no such thing as a neutral press. As far as similarities go, they are both members of the same party, but I don't see much of a resemblance on major issues otherwise. Bush is much more of a centralized government fan (examples are the "No Child Left Behind Act" etc), McCain is what is called a "Federalist" where he'd rather see the states control most issues and the federal government doesn't decide matters of social policy. A lot of it ends up being misunderstood because the press doesn't understand the political philosophy of the federalists, so they say a bunch of stuff like "McCain wants to outlaw abortion" because McCain has said Roe V. Wade was bad law, when repealing Roe V. Wade doesn't make abortion illegal, it throws it back to the states to decide how to govern abortion. So, the press ends up needlessly frightening people out of basic ignorance. Basically, the press is skin deep and doesn't understand anything that doesn't fit on a bumper sticker. The foreign press is even worse most of the time. I regularly have European friends that send me news articles and they frequently refers to things like "American State-Controlled Press newspaper The Washington Post" and there aren't any state run media outlets, that's also despite the fact that the Post brought down Richard Nixon. So, it is obviously not state run.
