No way, she wasn't that fat yet. The weight piled on big time after the RAL tour. Check out what a slug she was during TOSOTM and Timespace tours and press. And I love the RAL cover, it conveys a misty faraway-ness. It reminds me of some sort of a shimmering weird mirage, and then suddenly she spins into it. Dreamy and sort of unreal, and an odd play on her gauzy chiffon image because she is now in a bulky coat and hat. Only the small lace fringe on the hat brim harkens back to She of the Leather and Lace.

I do like the pose, because it suggests she is spinning. I also like peplum jackets, so that gets a star. But her face under the hat looks kind of squashed and squinty.

I think the deal with her was that she gained noticeable weight in 1985, but she still moved like a rock & roller. At the benefits in September 1985, she had put on about 20 or 30 pounds, but she still moved like the younger Stevie. The weight kinda made her cooler, even. She was really bitchin' & cool.

Undoubtedly a different kettle of stew, I agree. But I believe the major problem there was the change in her movement, the way she held herself, &c. It was so unpleasantly different. She didn't jerk any more or toss her head down & up with violent spasms.

That's kind of the way she was dressed at the benefit before the album came out. I think she was perhaps a tad self-conscious about her weight gain. Still, she was cool & rockin' & sockin' in her new frockin'. I always called the cover of that album "Kewpie Doll on a Stick," like a foodstuff from a county fair. You dip it in hot mustard!

Yes, that's it then, my perception of her weight is colored by her more animated and kooky stage style during RAL. Her wild spins and vocal freakouts seemed to come from a younger more fit chick. Her more numb stage presence ("Stevie are you ok? That garden hoe just smacked you right on the forehead!" "It did?") in the post-RAL years made her seem like heavier. The whole scene was heavy, and not in a good way. I myself felt like I gained 10 pounds of snoozy Thanksgiving turkey/triptophan weight just watching the two TOSOTM shows I caught live in '89.

Still voting for Crystal Visions!!!

The whole thing was a dysfunctional mess!!!

There was Fleetwood Mac... there was Stevie... there was Melbourne...
There were outdated photos...
There was no rhyme or reason to the tracking...

The only thing I got out of this was, of course the videos...

and a wonderfully high tech tour to back it up!!!

Come on people... I am a boat against the current here...

Let's vote this redundant thing off!!!

Why would you all vote off RAL first? At least it was an original!!!

Timespace rules forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with ya - Timespace was a solid greatest hits package. The flow of that CD is perfection. Every track stands out on it's own on the CD. It's all about the running order, which is why I find CV a mess as well. I don't think I've even listened to the thing once all the way thru.

RAL is so bland and lacking (considering that other pics from that time period would have been nicer choices!)

HOWEVER,The vote is for the cover. Not the content. THAT will have to be a WHOLE OTHER SURVEY.

Timespace cover has to go!
Had the promo poster but didn't like it, so it never made it to the wall.

TISL cover is very blah though.

Vivfox do have the original untouched RAL photo?

I forgot to mention that the RAL cover always reminded me of a Christmas tree.

I didn't know there was an untouched version. Please show it to me. I bet it's still been airbrushed.
