I really like these lyrics by monty python

Sit on my face and tell me that you love me
I'll sit on your face and tell you I love you too
I love to hear you oralize
When I'm between your thighs
You blow me away.

Sit on my face and let my lips embrace you
I'll sit on your face and then I'll love you truly
Life can be fine if we both sixty nine
If we sit on our faces
In all sorts of places
And play till we're blown away.

More Jackson.......

For A Dancer
Jackson Browne

Keep a fire burning in your eye
Pay attention to the open sky
You never know what will be coming down
I don’t remember losing track of you
You were always dancing in and out of view
I must have thought you’d always be around
Always keeping things real by playing the clown
Now you’re nowhere to be found

I don’t know what happens when people die
Can’t seem to grasp it as hard as I try
It’s like a song I can hear playing right in my ear
That I can’t sing
I can’t help listening
And I can’t help feeling stupid standing ’round
Crying as they ease you down
’cause I know that you’d rather we were dancing
Dancing our sorrow away
(right on dancing)
No matter what fate chooses to play
(there’s nothing you can do about it anyway)

Just do the steps that you’ve been shown
By everyone you’ve ever known
Until the dance becomes your very own
No matter how close to yours
Another’s steps have grown
In the end there is one dance you’ll do alone

Keep a fire for the human race
Let your prayers go drifting into space
You never know what will be coming down
Perhaps a better world is drawing near
And just as easily it could all disappear
Along with whatever meaning you might have found
Don’t let the uncertainty turn you around
(the world keeps turning around and around)
Go on and make a joyful sound

Into a dancer you have grown
From a seed somebody else has thrown
Go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own
And somewhere between the time you arrive
And the time you go
May lie a reason you were alive
But you’ll never know

And on a lighter note -

Joan Osborne

Right Hand Man

Lemme use your toothbrush. Have you got a clean shirt?
My panties in a wad at the bottom of my purse.
I walk into the street, the air's so cool.
I'm wired and I'm tired and I'm grinnin' like a fool.

I've been on a floor lookin' for a chair.
I've been on a chair lookin' for a couch.
I've been on a couch lookin' for a bed, lookin' for a bed,
lookin' for my, my, my right hand, my right hand man.
My right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
Said my right hand, my right hand man.
My right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
If he can't fix it, I don't know who can.

The sensamilla salesman, the cops on the block,
they know what I been doin'. They see the way I walk.
I wonder what they'd say now. I wonder what they'd do.
To feel somebody want them the way I'm wantin' you.

I've been on a floor lookin' for a chair.
I've been on a chair lookin' for a couch.
I've been on a couch lookin' for a bed, lookin' for a bed,
could you really be, my right hand, my right hand man.
My right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
Said my right hand, my right hand man.
My right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
Use me up if you think you can.

Oh, I've been on a floor lookin' for a chair.
I've been on a chair lookin' for a couch.
I've been on a couch lookin' for a bed, lookin' for a bed,
lookin' for my, my, my right hand, my right hand man.
My right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
Said my right hand, my right hand man.
My right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man;
If he can't fix it, I don't know who can.

Oh, said, my right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man.
Said, my right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man.
My right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man.
Said, my right hand, my right hand man;
my right hand, my right hand man.

If he can't fix it, gonna find a boy who can.

shebop, that is one of the most beautiful songs by Jackson Browne. I love the lyrics. I love him. I recommend his version of Oh, My Love by John Lennon. It's stunning.

I love this song and it's theme:

BETTER TOGETHER (Jack Johnson)

There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
our dreams, and they are made out of real things
like a shoebox of photographs
with sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer
at least for most of the questions in my heart, like
Why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together

Mmmm, It's always better when we're together
Yeah we'll look at the stars and we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah it's always better when we're together

And all of these moments
just might find their way into my dreams tonight,
But I know that they’ll be gone
when the morning light sings
and brings new things
for tomorrow night you see
that they’ll be gone too,
too many things I have to do
But if all of these dreams might find their way
into my day to day scene
I'd be under the impression
i was somewhere in between
With only two,
Just me and you,
Not so many things we got to do
or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree, now,

Yeah It's always better when we're together
Mmmm, we're somewhere in between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together

mmmmmmm

I believe in memories
they look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when I wake up,
you look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
There is no, no song I could sing
and there is no combination of words I could say
but I will still tell you one thing
We're Better together

Well Nico I just can't seem to top the great lyrics you pull out! That Jack Johnson song sounds wonderful, I'll have to download it. And love the Jackson Browne too. (I think I will have to start firing some CDs to my friend who scoffs at my average taste in music!) Here's a beautiful one by my hero, Andy Partridge of XTC. I like this alot because my friend is always telling me to get some color in my life, and I think of her when I hear the line "Your heart is the big box of paints".

Wrapped in Grey
XTC from "Nonsuch"

Some folks see the world as a stone
Concrete daubed in dull monotone
Your heart is the big box of paints
And others, the canvas we're dealt
Your heart is the big box of paints
How coloured the flowers all smelled
As they huddled there, in petalled prayer
They told me this, as I knelt there
Awaken you dreamers
Adrift in your beds
Balloons and streamers
Decorate the inside of your heads
Please let some out
Do it today
But don't let the loveless ones sell you
A world wrapped in grey
Some folks pull this life like a weight
Drab and dragging dreams made of slate
Your heart is the big box of paints
And others, the canvas we're dealt
Your heart is the big box of paints
Just think how the old masters felt, they call...
Awaken you dreamers
Asleep at your desks
Parrots and lemurs
Populate your unconscious grotesques
Please let some out
Do it today
Don't let the loveless ones sell you
A world wrapped in grey
And in the very least you can
Stand up naked and
Grin

Here's a simple thought....

Joe Jackson
You Can't Get What You Want

Sometimes you start feelin’ so lost and lonely
Then you’ll find it’s all been in your mind
Sometimes you think someone is the one and only
Can’t you see, it could be you and me?
But if there’s any doubt
Then I think I’ll leave it out

’cause I’ll tell you one thing
You can’t get what you want
Till you know what you want
Said you can’t get what you want
Till you know what you want

Sometimes you keep busy reaching out for something
You don’t care, there’s always something there
Sometimes you can’t see that all you need is one thing
If it’s right, you could sleep at night
But it can take some time
But at least I’m here in line

’cause I’ll tell you one thing
You can’t get what you want
Till you know what you want
Said you can’t get what you want
Till you know what you want

Sometimes you can’t see that all you need is one thing
If it’s right, you could sleep at night
But it can take some time
But at least I’m here in line

’cause I’ll tell you one thing
You can’t get what you want
Till you know what you want
Said you can’t get what you want
Till you know what you want

Brings to mind another in that vein, the great Bruce Springsteen. This song has always been one of my fav Springsteen tunes, it's a sad story but very, very powerful the way he sings it. You can see why people hailed him as the "New Bob Dylan" when this came out circa 1972. I think you'll like it!

"For You"
Bruce Springsteen

Princess cards she sends me with her regards
barroom eyes shine vacancy, to see her you gotta look hard
Wounded deep in battle, I stand stuffed like some soldier undaunted
To her Cheshire smile. I'll stand on file, she's all I ever wanted.
But you let your blue walls get in the way of these facts
honey, get your carpetbaggers off my back
you wouldn't even give me time to cover my tracks.
You said, "Here's your mirror and your ball and jacks".
But they're not what I came for, and I'm sure you see that too
I came for you, for you, I came for you, but you did not need my urgency
I came for you, for you, I came for you, but your life was one long emergency
and your cloud line urges me, and my electric surges free

Crawl into my ambulance, your pulse is getting weak
reveal yourself all now to me girl while you've got the strength to speak
Cause they're waiting for you at Bellevue with their oxygen masks
But I could give it all to you now if only you could ask.
And don't call for your surgeon even he says it's too late
It's not your lungs this time, it's your heart that holds your fate
Don't give me money, honey, I don't want it back
you and your pony face and your union jack
well take your local joker and teach him how to act
I swear I was never that way even when I really cracked
Didn't you think I knew that you were born with the power of a locomotive
able to leap tall buildings in a single bound?
And your Chelsea suicide with no apparent motive
you could laugh and cry in a single sound.

And your strength is devastating in the face of all these odds
Remember how I kept you waiting when it was my turn to be the god?

You were not quite half so proud when I found you broken on the beach
Remember how I poured salt on your tongue and hung just out of reach
And the band they played the homecoming theme as I caressed your cheek
That ragged, jagged melody she still clings to me like a leech.
But that medal you wore on your chest always got in the way
like a little girl with a trophy so soft to buy her way
We were both hitchhikers but you had your ear tuned to the roar
of some metal-tempered engine on an alien, distant shore
So you, left to find a better reason than the one we were living for
and it's not that nursery mouth I came back for
It's not the way you're stretched out on the floor
cause I've broken all your windows and I've rammed through all your doors
And who am I to ask you to lick my sores?
And you should know that's true...
I came for you, for you, I came for you, but you did not need my urgency
I came for you, for you, I came for you, but your life was one long emergency
and your cloud line urges me, and my electric surges free

I am pretty sure this song is coverered by Manfred Mann too
Anyone remember them- They covered Blinded by the Light, also

THE PRETENDER (Jackson Browne)

I'm going to rent myself a house
In the shade of the freeway
Im going to pack my lunch in the morning
And go to work each day
And when the evening rolls around
Ill go on home and lay my body down
And when the morning light comes streaming in
Ill get up and do it again
Amen
Say it again
Amen

I want to know what became of the changes
We waited for love to bring
Were they only the fitful dreams
Of some greater awakening
Ive been aware of the time going by
They say in the end its the wink of an eye
And when the morning light comes streaming in
Youll get up and do it again
Amen

Caught between the longing for love
And the struggle for the legal tender
Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring
And the junk man pounds his fender
Where the veterans dream of the fight
Fast asleep at the traffic light
And the children solemnly wait
For the ice cream vendor
Out into the cool of the evening
Strolls the pretender
He knows that all his hopes and dreams
Begin and end there

Ah the laughter of the lovers
As they run through the night
Leaving nothing for the others
But to choose off and fight
And tear at the world with all their might
While the ships bearing their dreams
Sail out of sight

Im going to find myself a girl
Who can show me what laughter means
And we'll fill in the missing colors
In each others paint-by-number dreams
And then well put out dark glasses on
And well make love until our strength is gone
And when the morning light comes streaming in
Well get up and do it again
Get it up again

Im going to be a happy idiot
And struggle for the legal tender
Where the ads take aim and lay their claim
To the heart and the soul of the spender
And believe in whatever may lie
In those things that money can buy
Thought true love could have been a contender
Are you there?
Say a prayer for the pretender
Who started out so young and strong
Only to surrender
I am guessing with your name (Nico)-You know who Nico is ...but there is a song called "These Days", she covered it, so did Gregg Allman-I think 10,000 Maniacs covered it too, but I cannot find any proof of that. Very interistering story behind the song.....Written by Jackson Browne.
Excellent, very sad tune-If fact you can catch Jackson Browne doing it at Youtube accoustically-Worth a listen for sure.....Talk about sadness and drama

Thanks for the Joe Jackson, Shebop! I love so much of his work, his musicianship is amazing. This song is always on my 'upbeat, feel-good, get motivated' playlist. You gotta know what you want (but careful what you wish for, 'cause you just might get it!)

Yup, know her, love her. My namesake. Actually, her version of These Days is my personal favorite, much as I enjoy the original.

In fact, here is one of my favorite Nico sung songs, from the "banana" album, written by Lou Reed. For her. One of the greatest bands ever:

I'LL BE YOUR MIRROR (Lou Reed)

Ill be your mirror
Reflect what you are, in case you dont know
Ill be the wind, the rain and the sunset
The light on your door to show that youre home

When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside youre twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
cause I see you

I find it hard to believe you dont know
The beauty you are
But if you dont let me be your eyes
A hand in your darkness, so you wont be afraid

When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside youre twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
cause I see you

Ill be your mirror

Speaking of 10,000 Maniacs...I adore their cover of Because the Night.

THE SWEETEST DROP
by Peter Murphy

Roll yourself away from me
Unveil me from your layers
Lay with me
Let me plunder, - no betrayal
Shame cast out
Morning sensual fire aroused
Union upon union
In union we'll flower
Sail naked in our funder
Press towards the burst

Drop the sweetest drop
Give the thunder up
Rocking to the top
Sensor none the shame
Cling no more to shame
Ring me in the morning
Take me, take me, in the rain
Oh come with me, eh come with me
Concurr and swallow me
Explode secrete your tender
Let's scream out like the sea

Pull me warm and slender
Concur and swallow me
Explode secrete your tender
Let's scream out like the sea
Union upon union
Drop the sweetest drop

I think about you all day
Calling the sacred first
Rolling sunlit day
Give me what I thirst

Drop the sweetest drop
Give the thunder up
Rocking to the top
Sensor none the shame
Cling no more to shame
Ring me in the morning
Take me, take me in the rain
Oh come with me
Yeah come with me
Concur and swallow me
Explode secrete your tender
Let's scream out like the sea

Roll yourself away
Immortal burn alive
Rocking to the top
Sensor none the shame
Cling no more to shame
Ring me in the morning
Take me, take me, in the rain
Oh come with me, oh! come with me
Concur and swallow me
Explode secrete your tender
Let's scream out like the sea

I love this...so sensual.

beautiful song...

INFLAMMABLE
by Love And Money

Inflammable

I can see you with your soul in your eyes

About to catch fire

And I want to cool you down

But words just slip away from me

Untouchable

I know you only seem that way

But you push me to the edge

And you push me back again

Closing doors and spawning dreams

When I had enough of them

What the daylight scorns

The night embraces

And I go looking for what I

Want in the wrong places

Unfathomable

It seems that all I really ever do

Is wait around in queues

For things that I don't really want

That don't do me no good

Inflammable

You could say that it's my hope that burns

I suppose I'll never learn

But ever since I saw your face

I've been past the point of no return

Looking for a better place

What the daylight scorns

The night embraces

And I go looking for what I

Want in the wrong places

I recognise in you a part of myself

I want to hide inside you, be guided by you

This storm won't blow over, till we can be together

Till we can be lovers

Inflammable

Burn me with your love

Cool I song I love the lyrics to...

that comes from the extreme metal genre, by the great Strapping Young Lad

All Hail the New Flesh

"Hey Man, I'm Going To F*ck This **** Up
No Fear, No Compromise, I Want It All
I Will Never Be Afraid, And I'll Die With What I Believe

All Of You Assholes Can Stay Rotting Here
I Do Not Care, I Will Not Be There
I Have Got To Save Myself
And Don't Tell Me There's No One Else

And All You Are Is All You Are...
I'm So Sorry (For You) I'm Sorry...

So All Hail The New Flesh,
Because It Suits Me Fine...

Just Get Away, You Motherf*ck
And We'll Be Back If You Come
For What This Means To Me, You Piece Of ****...
I'll See You Pigs In Hell
I Just Know Everything's Going To Be O.K.
"

"I think this could be Strapping Young Lad's theme song. Absolutely going for it, putting aside fear to fight for what you believe in. The world can be so harsh sometimes that it takes a war to deflect it and be able to eventually see the beauty again. Strapping's rage is meant to be a reaction to an ugly world. A sensitive mind can see the ugliness as a challenge to reach the beauty through chaos." - Devin Townsend, SYL singer/guitarist on "All Hail the New Flesh"

Gretchen, those song lyrics are just stunning.

I am really impressed by everyone's different choices. Very cool.

K, I'm a huge the Killers fan since the beginning (yes that is Brandon Flowers below). There is a sense of urgency to this song that is absolutely entrancing to me. If it was a man, I'd marry it. That's how much I love it.

READ MY MIND (Brandon Flowers)

On the corner of main street
Just tryin' to keep it in line
You say you wanna move on and
You say I'm falling behind

Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?

I never really gave up on
Breakin' out of this two-star town
I got the green light
I got a little fight
I'm gonna turn this thing around

Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?

The good old days, the honest man;
The restless heart, the Promised Land
A subtle kiss that no one sees;
A broken wrist and a big trapeze

Oh well I don't mind, you don't mind
Cause I don't shine if you don't shine
Before you go, can you read my mind?

It’s funny how you just break down
Waitin' on some sign
I pull up to the front of your driveway
With magic soakin' my spine

Can you read my mind?
Can you read my mind?

The teenage queen, the loaded gun;
The drop dead dream, the Chosen One
A southern drawl, a world unseen;
A city wall and a trampoline

Oh well I don't mind, you don't mind
Cause I don't shine if you don't shine
Before you go
Tell me what you find when you read my mind

Slippin’ in my faith until I fall
You never returned that call
Woman, open the door, don't let it sting
I wanna breathe that fire again

She said
Oh well I don't mind, you don't mind
Cause I don't shine if you don't shine

Put your back on me
Put your back on me
Put your back on me

The stars are blazing like rebel diamonds cut out of the sun
When you read my mind

Some of you really have a knack for finding great song lyrics! I'm finding out that alot of my favorite songs are great musically, but not too deep lyrically. And some lyrics really only come to life IN the song, when you read them it doesn't do them justice. I was going to put some Todd Rundgren lyrics in here, but I can already see my friend covering her eyes! So here's a somewhat sexy one from good ol' XTC:

(and Nico, how does one become a song? Inquiring minds want to know!)

"That Wave" from the Nonsuch album

That wave
Pulled me into your eyes
Through the greeney grey pebbles
And countless cathedrals arriving
That wave
Lift me into your mouth
Turning spires and spittle of pearls
To perplex the young diver
I flew down to the bottom of the sea
Where I questioned the fishes all about it
I was in heaven
Address cloud eleven
They danced and laughed spelling all I fell into was love
That wave
Carried me through your hair
Up from suffocate seaweed
The perfumed cushions cascading
That wave
Pushed me into your skin
Where I bathed in the promises
Giddy with planets parading
I swam down to the bottom of the sky
Where I questioned the blue birds all about it
I was in heaven
Address cloud eleven
They danced and laughed spelling all I fell into was love
That wave!
That wave
Pulled me right overboard
Into permanent morgasm
Emotional action painting
I flew down to the bottom of the sea
Where I questioned the fishes all about it
I was in heaven
Address cloud eleven
They danced and laughed spelling all I fell into was love
