Refer to the Cologne Germany concert tape from Mac's 1980 tour -- LANDSLIDE dedication.

Indeed jwd!
![]() "I was born in the desert- So I know how it feels there." Stevie has spoken of generations of her family that have lived in the USA-- she speaks of them from time to time: "My mother's mom and dad were divorced very early, and her stepfather worked in a coal mine in Ajo, Arizona and died of tuberculosis. She had a hard life, was very poor . . . " "The summers I spent in Ajo, Arizona with my Grandmother, starting when I was around four." There's a good article on Nicks Fix: http://nicksfix.com/denverpostb8-11-1991.htm Granted, this is probably just one side of her family, and it was generations ago, but maybe it's a little piece of what you are looking for: "I feel Colorado is mine," she said. "My ancestors immigrated there from Cologne, Germany. My great aunt, who died not long ago, lived up in Cripple Creek. And I have a lot of relatives in Colorado Springs. "I have real bad asthma, and Denver is the greatest place to be, with the best doctors in the world. Five years ago I was in the asthma hospital by myself for a couple of days, and I made loads of friends." |

This story comes from a fan review of the RAINY July 21, 1998, Fiddler's Green - Denver, CO on Nicks Fix. It doesn't really tell of her ethnic background per se, but it's definitely part of the Stevie heritage:
http://nicksfix.com/tourrev7-21-98.htm (review by Paul O'Brian) P.S. -- At the very end of the show, she said "One more bit of trivia... Like, half my family is from Colorado, and my great-great-grandmother crossed the desert leading into Colorado to come here... and she was the only survivor of a huge Indian massacre! So now you know that." Last edited by Tango; 08-16-2008 at 07:34 AM.. |

She's from Venus. She goes to great lengths to hide her antennas.
