Not a fan of the current Batman franchise (After Clooney stunk it up I lost interest - Only Batman movie I enjoy now is the campy 1966 Adam West "Batman" movie), but maybe its just me but for some reason, even before Heath Ledger passed I thought his makeup was in an eerie similarity to Brandon Lee's "Eric Draven" (Of 'the Crow') - and both passed during or immediately after those portrayals.

Going to go see HellBoy II instead!!! I like the independent comic book character's moreso than the mainstream: Hellboy, SiP (Strangers in Paradise - There was talk of a SiP movie awhile back - But I doubt HollyWEIRD would understand the story of a love triangle between 2 ladies and a dude), Death (She's such a cool babe) and The Crow (My brother met "The Crow" creator James O'Barr - Said he was a 'different' dude than one would expect...My bro has an estimated 150,000 comic books at his house)

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I actually live a few miles away from the original villiage that Gotham City was named after - Gotham, though we pronounce it Goat ham.

The village is most famed for the stories of the "Wise Men of Gotham". These depict the people of the village as being stupid. However, the reason for the behaviour is believed to be that the villagers wished to feign madness in order to avoid a Royal Highway being built through the village, as they would then be expected to build and maintain this route. Madness was believed at the time to be highly contagious, and when King John's knights saw the villagers behaving as if insane, the knights swiftly withdrew and the King's road was re-routed to avoid the village.

One of the mad deeds seen by the knights, was a group of villagers fencing off a small tree in order to keep a cuckoo captive from the sheriff of Nottingham. One of the three pubs/inns in the village is known as The Cuckoo Bush Inn.

Reminded of the foolish ingenuity of Gotham's residents, Washington Irving gave the name "Gotham" to New York City in his Salmagundi Papers (1807). In turn, Bob Kane named the pastiche New York City home of Batman Gotham City. The existence of Gotham, Nottinghamshire in the DC Universe was recently confirmed in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #206 (and reconfirmed later in 52 #27), although the connection between two names within the DCU has not been fully explained.

Arrow Dad chooses Batman over son

by Jennifer Jordan

File this in the list of the stupidest things people do, you know, that list that makes you wonder how it's possible for some loser to be a parent when there are so many great people out there who can't have kids? Some jerk decided it was a good idea to leave his son in the parking lot in the car while he went in and saw The Dark Knight, the latest Batman installment.

Oh, yes he did. David Farnham, candidate for father of the year, left his two-year-old son alone in a locked car while he took in the more than two hour movie. Naturally people who were actually concerned about the boy's wellbeing noticed him crying and sent for help from the police. When the boy was retrieved he was dehydrated and scared but otherwise in relatively good condition.

The cops noted it was 87 degrees and the windows of the car were rolled up. I think about this kind of thing all the time living in New York where the temperatures get surprisingly hot. Aside from the basic, common sense fact that no child should be left alone in a car, it was too hot for him to be out there. Did I mention it was in the middle of the night? Oh, yeah, the father went to see the 1:00 AM screening of the movie. I know an R-rated movie is no place for a child, certainly not a two-year-old, but isn't it better than being left alone in a hot car? Or, wait--I know the answer: GET A SITTER. If you can shell out the ten bucks to see the movie you can certainly afford a few dollars more to get someone to watch your kid.

Oklahomans routinely leave their kids in cars with temps of (Such as today's) 103 and noone complains...Usual daily temps in OK during the summer is a nice daily 102

I always knew New Yorkers were soft, Now I have the proof...

Ya Wussies...
