That's just what I was going to say Dreamr. It's not really strange in a sense to me, but it IS quite different to be drawn away from the Buckingham vs. Nicks battle to hear opinions on the other three members. In fact, until THIS thread, I had never even noticed Phil talking down about Christine, I suppose because it's just something you don't see.

In any case, we've gone way off topic. Anyone else have a word that could possibly fit into Seven Wonders? Hehe

I think there was a large mirror in the studio, and Stevie got a bit distracted during the instrumental bridges.

OK so I just grabbed my 45 and thought I'd give it a spin on 33 1/3 speed to see if I could detect any letters or sounds at the slower speed. (I'm bored today, I'm off and I'm home alone) All that I was able to detect for certain is that Stevie sounds incredibly frightening when she is played at this speed.

Actually Johnny Stew may be on to something with his "Hair-ahh" idea! I'm now convinced that it's not Tara, and I'm pretty sure that it isn't Sara either, becuase at that speed, the first letter of the first syllable is noticeable hushed, like H, PH, or TH. Doesn't really sound like T or S at all. I'm pretty sure it isn't Pharoah either, because the last syllable is definatley AH, not OH. So in conclusion, I don't know what the hell she's saying, and we probably never will.

maybe she's trying to say sara or tara and just isnt doing it. singers frequently drop sounds.. (except for like.. the chorus nerds.. cuz their grade gets deducted.) i'm trying to think of an exact example.. but i really can't right now. give me time to stop being a moron & i'll come back with one. i knooooow she's done it before.

Someone... maybe Christine?... usually drops the "h" in the word "here," during the chorus of "Don't Stop."

Thank you paleshadow & ricohv! LOL! I was lurking through this entire thread and wondering when someone else would agree with what I was thinking. I have always kind of wondered what she was singing and it finally dawned on me when I was listening to the track of TBOFM cd two weeks ago, very loudly in my car. It was a light bulb moment! "Oh yeah! "Never" now that would make sense, wouldn't it?!" (No I'm not very quick! lol) If you listen very closely, that is what she's saying, in the way only our Stevie could!

I've gotta agree with Paleshadow, Rico & Wild Heart on this one..I'm convinced it's 'never' sort of drawn out. (Kind of like 'neh-vaaah') It struck me much like it must have for Wild Heart, but I was listening to the extended version of the song. Although years ago I thought she was just humming.....

And I thought I was the only one wondering about this. The first time I heard this song was on The Very Best Of CD, so I came here on The Ledge looking for the lyrics, somehow hoping I they've have it on here what Steve is saying. Boy, do I feel stupid. Now don't laugh. I thought she was saying "Canada". OK go ahead & laugh

I didn't think Canada was one of the seven wonders, but you never know.

Ok, I'm going to really listen to it. I'll play it at work tomorrow so I'm real close to the speakers & listen. "Never" makes more sense than "Canada" though.

I think some people are talking about the ..its not home & its not -tara- part..

and some are talkin about the.. whatever-she-says.. between verses and choruses.

No, the people who are saying "Tara" are saying she says Tara in during the instrumental parts of Seven Wonders. While others disagree, I think we can rule out "never" as there is definitely an "r" sound leading into the second syllable. "r" and "v" are quote distinguishable, and I don't hear a "v" sound in there.

It would be if his attacks had more substance behind them. As it stands, he's just being sharp & sardonic in order to raise hackles or make some sort of splash; the rhetoric is out of all proportion to the context.

In other words, he's just trolling---not that there's much wrong with that so long as it's only occasional & at least lucid. I sometimes troll, too, as do some of my favorite posters here.

I just listened to this song with good headphones, and I'm totally convinced that it's TARA. It has to be. Doesn't sound like Never, at all, nor Pharoah, and there is no "S" sound to suggest Sara. If you listen really closely, you can hear the "T" sound.

It's TARA!

On another note, did Stevie get a writing credit just for changing "on down the line" to "emmiline"? Does anyone know how much of this song she actually wrote?

Further to my previous comments relating to this topic, I would just like to reiterate that Stevie is most definitely singing "Pharoah". If in any doubt, listen carefully to the extended remix of "Seven Wonders" where the instrumentation is considerably more sparse and you will hear clearly what she is saying. The answer was obvious from the beginning so let's not waste any more time debating the issue.
