In general, do you think someone would not play shows just for the sake of playing...or is it all just to promote a purchase? I am curious about this.

I must be on fairy dust...mosttimes I want to believe an artist gets pleasure just from performing to their audience not necessarily as on opportunity to sell their wares. Perhaps I am thinking of the grateful dead.

It got me nervous when I saw that the dates were posted before any actual news about an album. Even if he doesn't put an album out before the tour, im sure he will do songs from it live. Hes not afraid like someone else we all know...

It could actually be just to promote the Soundstage dvd/cd?

I did hear from Gary Hodges that the album is coming out this summer, so this tour isn't just about the DVD.

I guess I'm thinking that this tour is not going to be as extensive as the last one. So, I don't see a better way to promote the album. I suppose I just hope it comes out soon...need a Lindsey fix.

Bulletin from the Waddy Wachtel Band on myspace:

Note from Nina:

Here are a few updates as to the whereabouts and goings-on of the members of the Waddy Wachtel Band:

Phil Jones will be performing this Monday 6/30 at the Joint with friends Bernard Fowler, Jason Sinay, Bob Glaub and Mike Canipe.

Waddy Wachtel is on the last legs of his tour with Stevie Nicks and will be back in town next week - and back at the Joint with all of us very soon. To see some cool new pics of Waddy at these gigs, check the "Tagged Photos" in our "Pic" section.

Rick Rosas is still in Europe touring with Neil Young and should be back some time in late August.

Brett Tuggle has finished his recording sessions with Lindsey Buckingham, but will begin rehearsals with Lindsey in August for their upcoming tour in September and October. Brett will also be touring early next year with Fleetwood Mac.

Jamie Savko's birthday is tomorrow 6/27.

Happy Birthday, Jamie!!!!

I've been adding a new "Brett Tuggle" section to the Waddy Wachtel Info web page.

You can check it out at:
Waddy Wachtel Info / Brett Tuggle
It includes some great photos, videos and audio.

I'm also really looking forward to having Waddy and all the guys in WWB back at the Joint. We're so patient, aren't we? Well, when there's that much talent packed onto the small Joint stage on a Monday night, what else can we do but wait for them to come back and Rock Our Socks Off! Yeah! Sooooon, babies. I'll be at this computer giving you the news as soon as I hear it.

July WILL be rockin'!!!!

Love from WWB and me to all you rockers.......
See ya soon!
-Nina

P.S. I also posted this as a blog on the WWB MS page.

The album WILL be released before the tour. If not, get ready for a LOT of near-empty houses on this tour.

In many markets (including my own), this will be his THIRD concert in less than two years. I never thought I'd say this before, but Lindsey definitely is running the risk of over saturation with his frequent touring.

I think this will be the only tour he does because if FM are touring "early next year" then I think he'll want time off after his Sept/Oct tour and then they will have to start getting ready for the Mac tour so it's unlikely that there will be much, or any, more touring after this one.

Besides, he's called it the "Gift of Screws" tour so I'm willing to put big bucks that GOS will be the album title and I think it's very rare for an artist to name a tour after a new album but not have the album released for the tour (or at the very least at some point during the tour).

That's my thinking. He needs to cleanse himself of this album once and for all. At the end of last June I was told 6 songs were in the can. It has to be some of the GOS tracks. Hasn't he mentioned Mick and John on a couple?? I'm very excited. Twist of Fate and Shuffle Riff...I'm hoping.

I believe we are looking at 27 dates, then a CD release and then a full-on tour. I find curious this is the GOS tour considering, technically, there is no GOS. I believe we will see a name change on the CD promo tour.

Ahhhh....Lindsey giving us the 'gift of screws' to warm us all up...I love it!

um...of course, I could be wrong. hehe
I dont think so... Didn't UTS come out around only a month or so after they announced it!? I think so...

I don't really like the idea of calling this album "Gift of Screws" because I feel like Gift of Screws, as we know it, has already been made and then just plain b*stardized... But I suppose we "aren't supposed to know" the whole story... I dunno... I just wish he would have picked a different name.

As for a FM album, I think we are looking at a 10ish song blitz of an album... it seems like the whole process is being rushed because Mick wants to get on the road and make the real $$... just mho.

Just some info I found interesting.
Since my mom told me I can go to two shows, Northampton, and probably CT, I wanted to look up the Ridgefield Playhouse, where the show is located. Seeing as I'm not from around there.

Of all the venues listed in my area, it is the only one that has Lindsey on it yet, and the ticket price is outrageous!!

85 dollars!!
I thought that his tickets would be cheaper!!!

So probably I'll be going to the Glenside PA show on the Saturday instead. If anyone has any info on how much tickets are it would be greatly appreciated. The only way I can get my mom to go is if I pay for the tickets, and I really don't want them to make me poor, seeing as in December I'm going car shopping too....

This year is gonna cause me to go bankrupt. seriously. Between Stevie in CT, two Lindsey dates and a car...ugh. lol!

but seriously, any info on the average price of tickets at the Keswick theatre or even the Berklee Center in Boston would be appreciated.

Thanks

On a side note however-
I'm sure he'll be releasing the album in August/September either right before or during the tour. He wouldn't dare not release the album at all if he's naming the tour the GOS tour. I don't think he's that dumb...

And if FM is touring next spring [09], He probably won't have another leg to his tour, and the CD will be out before then. Or if he thinks he has good marketing skills, he may even wait until DURING the FM tour, and promote it under the name 'the Guitarest from Fleetwood Mac', because that does spark more public interest rather than just 'Lindsey Buckingham'.

So I guess everyone will have to wait to see what happens, and what he has planned.

But I am certain that he will change up the setlist a bit!!
