Default Don't come around here no more

Just got finished watching a tom Petty docu. on his 30yrs. in music. It's called runnin down a dream..a mere 4 hrs. long but worth it. It's a great show!! It has lots of interviews with Tom and he gets to a part where he says "and then we met Stevie Nicks. It shows tom/stevie in the studio recording Stop draggin. Talks about thier relationship n such, as well as her commenting throughout the show. But the thing I didn't know was that Stevie was in the studio recording the song "Don't come around here no more". Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) wrote the song. Story goes that Jimmy I. was bitchin about the way Stevie was singing it and she said well get Tom to rewrite the lyrics. So he did and then decided he wanted to record the song. They are both credited for the song. Would love to hear demos of these.

I never saw it myself, but someone related seeing Stevie on VH1, I think, and Stevie said that she was angry to walk in one day seeing Tom sing the song that was supposed to be for her, and she huffed out, saying he could have the song.

Does anyone else imagine Stevie playing Alice in the video to this video? That would have been great. Stevie swimming in a teacup and tumbling down some mushrooms. I could do without her being eaten as a cake though. That part was rather traumatizing to me as a child.

Had Stevie actually recorded the song and released it, I fear the video creativity would never have gone to the Alice thing Petty did. Not with Chris Nicks coming up with the video concept.

I can't imagine anyone but Tom doing this song. And the video is, I think, my all time favorite. Perfect for the song and perfectly 'Alice In Wonderland' weird.

I always think of Stevie as Alice in that. Being portrayed, of course. lol

Everyone thought for the longest time that Stevie -- & Marilyn Martin -- sang backup on this one.

I specifically went to see the Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers show at the L.A. Forum in the summer 1985 hoping to see Stevie Nicks pop in & sing some **** (we were waiting avidly for ROCK A LITTLE at the time). But, alas, no Stevie at the Forum that year (although she showed up in Tempe).

That was the tour Lone Justice opened.
