it's a snare chris is playing. Snare drums are flatter than a tom or timbale... plus they have "snares" on the bottom of them to give them that marching band sound which is very noticeable throughout the entire song.

it's pretty great to see this type of video. It's a shame that as the years past, the shows began to lack any sort of soemthing like this....surprising or unique.

You're right except for the end of the Dance concerts when the band lined up to perform Farmer's Daughter and/or was it Say You Love Me with a different arrangement: though I did miss Christine's famous keyboard sound missing from that one.

I loved it when Stevie said about Christine:"She looks like she's gonna be confirmed in a Catholic church"

Yes but I think that's Mick you're hearing. The martialesque, vibrating snare can be heard on dozens of Second Hand Newses from several tours -- Chris didn't play her drum every time, & here she isn't playing with enough visual precision to follow Mick exactly.

I don't think she's adding anything to the sound other than a whomp here & a poooosh there -- akin to Stevie clickety-clacking on the triangle & the cowbell. (Although they've probably at least mic'd Christine whereas with Stevie the sound guy probably drops the mic when she holds that cowbell right up to it & clickety-clicker-clackers it -- as if thousands of paying customers wanted to hear THAT.)

I was impressed with Stevie's cowbell abilities on the Tusk Tour. I know my arm would have fallen off trying to keep time with the band on the song Tusk.

yes seriously, she must have been practicing cuz as a drummer I know the tempo Mick sets is a pretty fast one, and I think you can hear Chris at some parts, BUT she IS also playing the snare with brusshes...sooo yea!

Plus bass, right? I think in the Tusk doc that she says she played bass in a band she joined in her teens.

Hey that Save me a Place clip was excellent. The harmonies were gorgeous. It sounds like they could, at any time, break into "The Sun King" from Abbey Road.

File that one under "keyboards." We're looking for something like piccolo, or English horn.
