Default Christine or Stevie?

I love Stevie Nicks. She is beautiful and talented. However, Christine McVie was my favorite. FM will never be the same without Christine. Her songs may have been more simpler than Stevie's, but she was the glue that held FM together. She was there almost from the start. I want FM mac back with it's five members: Christine, John, Stevie, Lindsey and Mick. Don't put some mess like Sheryl Crow in there. Even if Christine doesn't want to tour, she could at least do the songs on the CD's. Come back Christine!!!

It's kind of interesting to go back to 1994 & read some of those articles Michelle posted, where Mick says that Chris has earned the right to just make albums & not have to go on the road with the band. So between that time & 2003, I guess Chris lost the privilege she earned almost ten years earlier!

Yeah, classic case of Mick changing his views when he's no longer desperate to keep one of the three "viable" songwriters in the band. Had Lindsey and Stevie not been available for Say You Will, and he reformed a new lineup, he'd have let Christine record without touring.

I couldn't agree more. Mick will do whatever it takes to get an FM album out and for SYW he didn't need Christine because he had Lindsey and Stevie.

I've always thought the "no tour, no record" rule was utter crap.

While I've always been partial to Stevie and can relate more to her persona and her music, Christine has always been a Class Act to me. She is not only a great singer and songwriter but she's a talented musician as well. I've always respected her quiet demeanor - she's not some pumped up celebrity who constantly needs/seeks the limelight. There's something graceful and dignified about her that you don't find in the Rock n Roll world too often. Fleetwood Mac is def. lacking w/out Christine. There is no one who can fill her shoes.

Agreed. They could easily make money on a combo CD/DVD and include Christine and have all five there! Clearly, it's not the cash cow that a tour is, but there is less interest in a tour without all five.

While that is true, it was not enough of a less interest on SYW. The record did poorly, but the tour was successful. Would it have been more successful with CM? I am unsure that was realy possible, save for the third leg, which I submit was saturation with four or five. Would it have better - absolutly!

oh god. is this thread really necessary?

as much as we bitch about FMac rehashing the same issues, we do the same thing.

I think a tour would be successful with or without Christine because enough people will still go to hear a Greatest Hits/Rumours set.

Personally I'm fed up with them starting with The Chain, World turning half way through and Lindsey's day long guitar solos (although they do give you the chance to go for a wee) They need to freshen things up a bit but I bet they don't and I bet they still shift loads of tickets.

Unlike Gail, I can't be fed up with their show because I haven't seen them since the Dance. I'm only slightly interested in the Lindsey/Stevie version of Fleetwood Mac, not interested enough to spend big money for a ticket to see them live. Now, if Bob Welch would rejoin the band, that would get me interested again.

I agree almost 100% with your post except on the "glue". I mean yes she was kind of the glue, but there were several glues in Fleetwood Mac. And along the band life the glue role has been changing, except for Mick he was always the one who wanted to keep the band alive ALWAYS (for any reason but alive anyway).

Like Stevie said, there were times when nobody wanted to see each other, except for Mick.

I see Fleetwood Mac more like a puzzle or a house of cards where every piece kept the group stood up. And now that Christine is not anymore, the band is lame.

Sheryl or anyone else would be a crutch, not a leg..
