Default Heart on American Idol

I'm watching Idol Gives Back and Fergie just introduced...HEART! Ann is tearing through Barracuda and then Fergie comes back on for the second verse.
She's gonna cartwheel any moment...

So, I guess American Idol: Idol Gives Back is not live at all...
Still, two one-handed cartwheels in a row is pretty good for a former meth head.

Meth is speed, I thought. I could probably do a cartwheel if I were tweeked too.

Fergie has spoken openly in interviews about her crystal meth addiction. After her band Wild Orchid was dropped from its label, she fell into ecstasy and then meth, which she called "the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with." She covered for her usage by telling people that she had an eating disorder instead. Her song "Losing My Ground" is about her addiction.

From various articles -

“In my experience, ecstasy led to crystal meth, and I just think that people don’t know how addictive that drug is. It’s so cunning because it’s such a fun drug at first. You lose weight and look great for a while, but I don’t care if it takes six months or five years, it will creep up on you. Don’t be fooled and think you’re special.”

In an issue of Marie Claire, singer Stacey "Fergie" Ferguson of the Black Eyed Peas describes a harrowing drug trip from crystal meth -- a drug known for its distressing psychological aftermath.

"I had about 20 different conspiracy theories. I painted the windows in my apartment black so they couldn't see in," Fergie told Marie Claire, explaining that she thought the FBI was after her during her brief addiction to methamphetamines around 2001.

"One day, when I was about 90 pounds, a guy comes up to me. ... I'm searching in the bushes for clues about whatever they're after me for. I'm in a cowboy hat and red lips. He hands me a muffin. I'm thinking, he's in on it," Fergie said.

I didn't LOVE it, but the Fergie/Heart pairing went rather smoothly. I had settled in expecting a train wreck for sure. I just wish they had let Carly out w/ them instead.

It was a pretty good performance. I figured out that Fergie actually has a pretty good voice. Not a knockout voice, but she can definatley sing her butt off. I liked it! And those cartwheels were pretty groovy.

Well...I did like it. For some odd reason. But I have never been a big fan of Fergie.

Anyone who realizes that they are vocally out-classed by Ann Wilson and decides to cartwheel for attention is okay in my book. Actually, I didn't think she was bad, vocally. Miley Cyrus sounded like crap; Snoop Dogg is crap; Mariah Carey doesn't even inhabit her own body anymore, nevermind a song; Teri Hatcher was hideous; Carrie Underwood was terrific; Annie Lennox, amazing. Ann Wilson is Ann Wilson and therefore should not be judged by mortals, so Fergie did okay.

Im a big fan of Heart, but Fergie (who never really impressed me before the other night) sounded amazing. I loved the cartwheels!

It was kind of sad how Ann was wearing Stevie's outfit from the Street Angel tour -- all the way down to the cross around her neck. She didn't look happy at all.

I'd never heard Fergie sing before and I have to say that I was very impressed. I had no idea she could actually sing. Anne Wilson is beyond mere mortals, but I did notice that Fergie picked up some of the higher notes. The one handed cartwheels were rather ridiculous, but I think she was just excited.

Actually, that too could have been WAY more a plane wreck than it was. I found it so funny that she opts to tackle this song, but then totally clams up on the notes she can't hit, and closes her mouth to boot. It's like "ok, nope, can't sing that, so I'm just gonna stop." Still, I think she and the Hero's guy (playing drums) and the dude from Desperate Housewives playing guitar were all doing it for a cause vs. showcasing any hidden talents. If ANY of them think they can quit their day-job, then I'll come up w/ WAY wittier disses
