[QUOTE=SteveMacD;747075]
Sheryl has worked with Eric Clapton, which makes her even more appropriate for Fleetwood Mac. (Hey, I coulda said she had sex with an ex-Bluesbreaker, but I was trying to be civilized.) She has worked with the likes of Clapton, Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Henley, and FLEETWOOD MAC. I respect that, even though her break-out was in 1994, she chooses to associate with THAT generation of rock. Yeah, I'll still miss Christine, but that ship has sailed. It's time to move on, don't you know.
the band shouldn't have to fade away too if they don't want to.

Exacally. She is accepted by THEM. So she deserves a chance.

Not really. I like to complain first, then experience and then complain some more. Complaints and experience aren't mutually exclusive. In fact experience helps fuel the complaints.

I think that as long as Stevie AND Lindsey are in the band, everyone, including the haters, will be buying tickets. I know I would. Heck, they could bring Bekka back and I would still want to see them. Just means I have multiple bathroom breaks during the show.

Maybe this is a stupid question but why didn't SC join the band on the SYW tour?? I don't think I've ever heard a reason for that.

I think the record company will give FM better marketing with Sheryl there and we'll get a concept video
Agreed.
Also, if she does have to add one solo song to a new FM tour, I'd love to hear Stevie & Lindsey together on this one - not just because of the obvious lyrics, but I just think Lindsey's voice would be great in the harmony.

This is what Lindsey said in November 2006. When I read it then, I was thinking something along the lines of FM and The Eagles, but it could foreshadow someone like Sheryl:

"My feeling is that we will go back on tour and perhaps do some co-billing combinations that haven't been thought out yet. Beyond that, I can't say. But absolutely in 2008, there will be action on the Fleetwood Mac front."

Am I the only one not particularilty thrilled at the prospect of Sheryl Crow "joining" Fleetwood Mac. And what does that mean exactly? It makes no sense for Sheryl Crow to become a full-fledged member of the group --she has her own definative career. It sounds more like she's going infuse Stevie's muse and to colaborate with them on a future album and possibly tour with them, as a guest performer.

But even that prospect bothers me. I love Fleetwood Mac and I love Sheryl Crow...but not together. I don't attend a Fleetwood Mac show to hear an even more deluted version of the live band as it is now (with more support players than main players). To add Sheryl to the mix severely alters the chemistry as never before. Sheryl has a very strong presence and solo identity of her own. It's very different situation, unlike when Rick or Billy joined the band, or any other incarnation before that. I can see Sheryl adding something to Fleetwood Mac songs in concert, but I can't see Fleetwood Mac becoming a back-up band for Sheryl's songs. That's when it stops being a Fleetwood Mac concert.

I can't see why anyone would be elated by this.

Well, what would you prefer: an FM with Sheryl Crow, or no FM at all?

I don't hate Sheryl Crow -- in fact I'm a big fan; got all her albums! She is all over the place when it comes to pairing up with other artists. If she has any involvement at all with Fleetwood Mac, it will be in passing.
She'll be as much a member in Fleetwood Mac as Stevie is a member of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I have a few of her songs, I especially like her duet with Sting on "Always On Your Side."

And wow, that is a great comparison! I'm surprised no one has said that before...

Why does that even have to be a choice? Can anyone absolutely say for sure that Fleetwood Mac's entire future is predicated on Sheryl Crow?

If so, is the motivation to make Fleetwood Mac more marketable? Sheryl Crow's previous release tanked big time.

Fleetwood Mac is generally considered to be a lauded dinosaur in the music industry, and not in the main demographic that buys music now, song by song off of ITunes. A band this old and legendary should just be concerned with making good music, and dispence with the antiquated notion of making a "hit."

However, if Sheryl pops up in guest appearances like Stevie shows up at Tom Petty shows, the more the merrier! It would be cool if other artists were surprise guests as the tour progresses.

This thread is exhausting. I agree w/ PenguinHead.

"Collaborating" does not mean she's permanently joining the band. I'm chilled out until we know more. If one more person I know screams, "SHERYL CROW'S JOINING FLEETWOOD MAC?!?!" at me, I may have to slap them.
