Okay, I need to preface this post with a disclaimer:
I HATE GREEN DAY. THEY HAVEN'T PUT OUT A GOOD RECORD SINCE 1994. I.HATE.THEM. /disclaimer On my way home tonight, I had the "alternative" station on in the car, and I heard this song come on, which sounded like a perfect fusion of The Buzzcocks and The Vibrators, with a hint of oldschool Green Day. I listened to it the whole way through, and could not get over how catchy and infectious this song called "Mother Mary" was. The DJ came on and announced it was a song from a band called Foxboro Hottubs. Uh, okay. So I googled them and learned that this band was supposedly a side project of the guys in Green Day. Huh. So, after feeling slightly nauseous knowing that I like a Green Day-related song, I decided to look them up on MySpace, and check out their other stuff: http://www.myspace.com/foxborohottubs Good ****. I'm impressed. And it takes a lot to impress me. Also, I'm kind of on the fence about The Redwalls. I like some of the stuff on their MySpace, but other than that, I don't exactly know. They just played here in the 'Burgh a few weeks ago, but I decided not to go, since I hardly knew anything about them. Hopefully I'll remain indifferent, though, because I'd be pissed if I missed a band I ended up liking a lot. Haha.
