Actually my favorite version is the one with Tom where she keeps singing "It was my night." I think the tempo on this version would work better live than the recent ones.

The only other live version I know of was performed on Saturday Night Live, but I think the above one is better. I don't know if she's ever done it in concert, but I'm sure someone here will know. If not, then she definitely should have. I can't imagine why she wouldn't have, but stranger things have happened. If anyone has an audio of the above live version, please post it. It's really beautiful. I like it better than the album version.

OMG!!!!!! this is incredible. thanks so much for posting.

I don't wanna know -
and
Races are Run
with
Without You as an alternate

so i was watching the gypsy clips above and started checking out the other videos by the users etc . . . i came accross the "gold dust woman" from a bob welch show where christine and mick and stevie join bob. It's a pretty cool version cos it's a unique group playing it - but the real thing that struck me was at the very end, stevie says "they never let me do gold dust woman".

which is funny to me for two reasons:
1. It's such a warhorse it's hard to imagine there was a time when it wasn't in the set?

2. I also think that bringing up band issues (such as what "they" let her sing) while she is a guest on someone else's stage is an interesting piece of tact on her part. The fact that some of those "They"s she refers to, are also guests and happen to have just played a killer version of her song, leaves me scratching my head more.

Actually, she says "They never let me play GDW this long, it's so much fun. Thank you all." I think she was being playful, didn't have any snarky intentions.

Bella Donna is fantastic live. She did it during the Wild Winged Dove tour in '81. I found a copy of it on a blog and here it is:

The Highwayman would be real great, but my two picks would be "If I Were You" and "Fireflies" only this time in front of an audience. (The one on the live album was a soundcheck recording)

I know she did Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind during the SA tour in 91...but she should do it now anyways!!

And probably Wild Heart. I doubt she could pull that off with her current range, so instead I'll say It's Only Love...my favourite song off of TSIL of course.

The demo of Love Is is so haunting and beautiful. The TISL version, to me, sounds contrived. I would LOVE to hear Love Is done with just her and a piano -- possibly her on the piano.

I don't like when Stevie plays piano. It sounds so wonky. I wish she played better.

I love 'Love Is' though, I thought the music and lyrics on TISL were very good.

"Do I know you cannot stay? I know...all about love..."
